Backlash is not backfill, backlash is. Basically play or slop on the mechanical side of things.  Start by tensioning your belts and ensure your extruder head doesn't wobble.

As far as switching filament goes, heat up the hot end then release the tension on the tension arm and pull the filament out.  Then stick the new filament in by reversing the process.  Once it is in and you've pushed the new filament out the nozzle you should be set.

BTW  I printed that out but didn't have time to send you a picture.  I'll send it out on Monday and FYI I turned out fine.

As for your fill issues I can see several signs of backlash (infill not meeting perimeters and imperfect circles). Follow these instructions to align and set up your drive system properly:
