Correlation between XYZware and Simplify3D and some improvements:
(The correlation came from reading gcode and looking at the settings in user panel)Before I get to the point, here's a tip: Large files can hang up on uploading - to help fix this, do the following:
Go to Tool>Firmware Config>Communication
Increase the cache size (had to set mine to 2047 (1 less than 2048) and set the Timeout to 60 sec.
XYZware has three major print settings: Normal, Good and Excellent
In Simplify3D, select the Da Vinci 1 process and modify the defaults to match XYZware, as follows:
For Normal
Density = 5% (means the same as infill)
Height = 0.4
Layers = 2 (this applies to both Top and Bottom)
Shell = 1
Bed Temp = 90
Extruder Temp = 215
Speed = as is
For Good
Density = 5%
Height = 0.3
Layers = 2
Shell = 2
Bed Temp = 90
Extruder Temp = 215
Speed = as is
For Excellent
Density = 10%
Height = 0.2
Layers = 3
Shell = 3
Bed Temp = 90
Extruder Temp = 215
Speed = as is
Improvements to the above settings:
Simplify3D enables setting several parameters that improve the print but, the values depend on the model you’re printing - one size doesn’t fit all, so to speak.
Density can always improve the structural integrity (hold off increasing until you're happy with everything else about the print).
Layers and shells - depends on the model (things like thickness and corner radius and logo’s, text…).
Outline overlap, solid layer at every #layers (really helps structural integrity).
Consider some test parts such as creating something like a coin with image and text, thin and thick wall parts, have some overhangs at 45 deg, 55 deg - some parts won't droop, some will - it's mostly about experiment and features on your model.
Currently Black ABS (XYZprint brand) is difficult to buy so I'm using Shaxon with a Zerocart (to trick the printer). Had to increase the Extruder Temp to 220 for better print with Shaxon.
