There is a lot information how to flash to repetier firmware or to cheat printer that has empty chip and print with any temperature you want, any length of filament.

Or you want to keep warranty, or you use some newest hardware revisions and flashing is not possible like da vinci Jr, Mini, Nano and maybe some others , otherwise there is no point.

This is why I've spent the last week pulling my hair out.. lol. My reprap I built over 2 years ago did PLA fine but struggled with ABS so I thought PLA should be easy.. how wrong could I be... lol

Thankfully I'm now able to print PLA and ABS both with great results now I've modded my printer (yes only 2 weeks old!) with a mk8 extruder like the one in the photo below;

It's made a big difference :-)

None of the XYZ machines can print PLA unless they are the 1.0A, the 2.0, and the AiO. Then they can only print with the XYZ brand PLA. Not third party brands. The issue is with the head design. The feed tube gets too hot at the higher temps required for third party PLA and it causes the filament to swell and jam. XYZ does sell an improved head for 100 bucks but again it will only print XYZ brands PLA. XYZ formulates their PLA to work at around 170 while other work at 190 to 230.A few memebers such as Scobo have added additional heat sinking around the feed pipe and too it and have been able to use even woodfill and flexibles. But with out modes you are limited to XYZ PLA on all Da Vinci models.
