The perspex parts in the extruder cracked to the point where it kept blocking so it was time to retire it from printing.
But what else could I use the XYZ system for as that still worked perfectly. In my case I magnetically attached a USB microscope to the head and used the Z axis for fine focus (0.1mm steps) and the X&Y axis to move the microscope and take pictures which could then be stitched together like a Panoramic image. I've also used it to take a number of images changing the focus through a subject and then stacking the images to get a deeper focus picture.
Since then I've removed the extruder head and stepper and printed a bracket to attach the Microscope.
This image of a Blue Bottle Fly head is the result of stacking together 10 images to increase the depth of field (focus).

The fan and thermistor are normal little connectors, but the heat thing is just these 2 thick wires with these weird thick pins. I have no clue how to connect these or what I need to buy. I could technically solder them to the little red plug for my stock wiring./ But idk what the norm to do is, the little wiki guides I found didnt really touch on this stuff. On the board theres this 4 pin connector that goes to the red and blue stock plugs, so the easiest option would be to solder to those. But idk if thats what I should do or not. And I dont know where to plug the fan in so that it will properly cool the v6. I havent tried any firmware stuff but I did see the thread on that so I shouldnt need help with that yet. I just wanted to get everything plugged in first. Thanks for any help.

But when I went to -> prepare -> move axis -> extruder and tried to move it.. but nothing happens. I flashed back to 1.9 Firmware, the one I had before, disabling all the titan aero settings and still nothing is moving.

I tried to take someones advise and turned the stepping motor as fast as I could manually; it didnt light the display up but it made the part cooling fan move. While working around an INSANE work schedule, I've repleaced two Z motors and two 3/8" leadscrews and I still have Z binding. This printer dubbed the Spookidoodle has been an absolute workhorse for me, and I thought it deserved a second chance at life. So, I decided to make a completely new bed sled from scratch using 2020 extrusions, printed parts, and some upgrades like a 8mm leadscrew that glides smoother than glass, and a new motor just for kicks. This is something I've been wanting to do for a few years, but never had the time or energy in the same moment. This is a prototype ready to install after printing the last two parts. From my measurements, it should work for SD3 aside from the length. I should be ready to install and test by the end of the week. Let me know if anyone is interested in specs or updates.

My prints can sometimes be off over 1mm in the Y direction and of course the Z banding issue is present. The amount of weight on the Y axis causes some wicked ghosting. I want that gone. I want less noise as well. I'd also appreciate faster warm up times, and the ability to go hotter for more material capability. Maybe 24 volt upgrade is in order?

Board - Duet 2 WiFi likely my go-to. I hear it can reduce noise as well, and I want that.

Z-Axis threaded rod - I'm ordering some M5-0.8 threaded rod to replace what's currently there. I'll be using a 5mm to 5mm clamp style coupler and a few M5-0.8 nuts with a printed attachment bracket.

Extruder/Hotend - I'm looking at going the E3D route with a Titan Aqua. One of my extruder steppers failed which sparked this whole upgrade project. Not to mention I'm constantly getting blockages which are causing my prints to fail. I think that is going to translate into my having to get the grinder out to finish it.

Second, along those same lines, is the mgn12 z axis rails. They are 330 mm long but I can't find those. The max length that will fit is 347mm for the SD3. The closest I found is 350 mm. I have access to a mill so that might not be impossible to shave 3-4 mm off. Might use the grinder again?

Lastly, for now, tolerances are too tight everywhere. Need to generally relax the tolerances to make up for the metric and imperial conversions that they used on the frame. Seems like everything is off just enough that everything is just past snug

Update: 2019/02/24

I think that I managed a decent pair of motor mounts without drilling more holes. Added a set of from pulley tensioners. Ends up being a 3 part system. Not really happy with the solution but it's a starting point. Current issue is the XY carriages. I am having trouble figuring out how to affix the mgn rail. I think this might have to go to 10 mm rod instead.

Per usual, I have updated the fusion 360 link and added a couple progress pics below.
