Topic: So what are the problems with laser/resin based printers?

I think I've had a fair amount of experience now learning to deal with the quirks of the extruder based solidoodle.

Just for curiosity, what are the quirks folks run into using the UV laser and resin reservoir based systems? There must be some, right?

Re: So what are the problems with laser/resin based printers?

Density of resin, depth of laser focus, intensity, and curing time are the major factors. Basically how deep will the laser cure material in the vat of resin and how quickly will the resin react to the laser or UV light. Depending on how transparent or opaque the resin is, the laser will penetrate the surface more or less and therefore cure thick or thin layers of resin. The idea is for the laser to only penetrate the surface a few microns, thus curing very thin layers of resin per-pass. The B-9 Creator community can cover the details of working out these factors much better than I can in a single post but that is my best heads-up when it comes to resin/laser/DLP printing.
