Topic: How do you guys remove support material that's connected to the object

I've got a print that has some support material in hard to reach spots.  I was wondering what tools you guys like for removing stubborn support material.  I've been thinking about using a brass wheel on my dremel but I don't know if that would be too agressive.

needle nosed pliers to break off the big bits.
xacto knife for cutting off whatever doesn't snap off.

Tweezers for getting into tight spots, and maybe a bit of sanding for bumps left behind.  A light touch of acetone with a brush will clear up any white spots caused by bending the plastic, or sanding.

Will this type of application smooth out the visible layers from prints into a nice smooth surface?
