Tried to post my Filastruder, but the forum won't let me post any links hmm
I'm guessing it's because I just registered? If there is an individual out there who is reading this message and has certain powers that enable one to perform such function, put your powers to good use.

You need 5-10 posts, it's anti spam. I think you can attach them, possibly?

Oh I see... so let me get this straight...

So what you're saying is this...

That I have to post 5-10 posts before I can post links...

So to recapitulate... I must post 5-10 posts before I can post links... Got it!

Re: Filastruder Kit Gallery - Pictures of Filastruders in the wild!

Furthermore, I couldn't find any button that allows me to attach a file.

I thought you should know that.

malek1979m, thank you for demonstrating how the anti spam works.

Oh nice build also, how is your output?

Thanks! Initially these were my results:

But after cutting the extra 2" off the base past the filament guide block and made room for the filament to flow freely, here are my results:

Still having an issue with the filament once it hits the ground randomly, it occasionally tends to hit at certain angles causing the currently extruding filament to bend randomly, so I don't know if there is a strategy to prevent that.

Not knowing what I am talking about since I still do not have my QU-BD RPM printer, to make my funnel, I'd say that you probable need to cool the filament more. If it is doing anything but coiling I'd guess that it is still soft.

Re: Filastruder Kit Gallery - Pictures of Filastruders in the wild!

You can't cool it more. You will always have .5-1 inches of hot filament, no matter how much airflow you apply.

He's using 3mm filament, he needs to extrude from higher up so hitting the ground applies less force at the nozzle.

Re: Filastruder Kit Gallery - Pictures of Filastruders in the wild!

Brilliant! He'll try that. I mean I'll try that.

The problem isn't that the filament that hits the ground is soft - it's that the filament right out of the nozzle is soft, and the filament hitting the ground causes the stiff filament to wiggle, causing the filament near the nozzle to stretch in whatever direction the filament chooses to go in.

I've not had time to play with filament extrusion for a few months (three kids, holidays, etc.) but I plan on putting the filastruder high up on a wall, hanging straight down, which I hope will allow the filament plenty of room to work out wiggles. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking of putting a tube a foot from the nozzle, so that at least the filament can't jerk side-to-size. I suspect that the real answer is the filament winder, at which point the whole system will be self-contained, and I won't have the randomness of the filament hitting the floor, etc., causing me trouble.

I still  have no idea how others are making such nice, smooth filament...

Re: Filastruder Kit Gallery - Pictures of Filastruders in the wild!

I just got a kit from my wife for Xmas, and am running it through the clean-out process now.

I made some mods including a printed fan holder, and routed and stained some oak wood to make a nicer looking base.  I drilled a first nozzle hole a fraction too large but was able to plug it up with a screw from the inside and drill a second hole that seems to be working perfectly.

Sure.  I just posted both the cup (most recent version with sloped insides) and the fan mount to thingiverse:

Which part is wrong?

Spacers and thrust plate. I'll explain more in the morning when I'm not laying in bed on my phone.

On a computer now. Two things wrong:

1.) The laser cut plate alone is not strong enough to handle the cyclic loading. You need the second flange backing it up.
2.) Only one set of spacers are to be used between the thrust plate and upright. The second is to be used if the thread on the bolts are not long enough.

Here's a picture:

The bolts can face either direction, that doesn't matter (though I put them through the other way, personally)
