Topic: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

To read/write all pages at once from/to ".txt" files, i've found the app that has made the creator of EMUTAG.

MIFARE++ Ultralight

http://soliforum.com/i/?E7yIiGX.jpg

The app is so so so so so simple, so it will not require any instruction for use it, just 4 buttons. Read, write, load, save.

OFC you can modify readed or loaded data.

That's it.

Regards!

If you are in a hurry and need your password NOW, or if it takes me too long for you, you can read the posts from 1851. I'm not going to be as effective as Bozo or Cgrillo, but you can give a try with me. If PASSWORDS thread follow it's current flow: asking for repeated passwords, not returning or false PACKS... I will end up with it as others before me.

Yep, that's the app I am using as well with my emutag.

I keep this as a .txt file on my phone to use as a template:

It's a full 200m spool with clear blue and the UID, password and pack is from the chip I received with the printer so it's usable (once) without any modifications. For the following uses you need to change uid (page 1 and 2), password and pack (last two pages) and serial number (page 9 and/or 14).

The only thing I cannot do with that app is write page 45 (0x2d) to enable and disable the password sniffer. For that purpose I use this tool: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … d.rfidtool

I still need to test more apps, i'm going to give a try to all regarding NFC apps on playstore.

To enable password sniffer mode write 0x000000E0 to page 0x2d and to disable it again write 0x000000F0

As spool holder I printed this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047554
It works well regardless of size and width of the spool and the size of the center hole.

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

hi, i read my tag with my android and i get only 8 page

6

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Hi
I was using emutag till today flawless, but today after running out the batteries due a long printing, i´ve replaced then with 3 fresh new AG8 button batteries and I have tried to program emutag with new data from cgrillo excel sheet (http://www.soliforum.com/topic/15817/da … -requests/)
Using the android app and my smartphone it seemed that the new spool data had been writen to the emutag (the software said it was sucesfully writen), but when I read the emutag with the app, all pages were blank (except the first ones and the last ones). Of course when attempt to inserte in the printer, not cartrige was recognized.

Any ideas, any help.
Can it be programed with an arduino (via wired with some pins??)

7

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

I use an Arduino, and yes you can update the tag with it if you have a PN532 or something similar. I wrote my own sketch and .net program to do this.

8

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

buying a PN532, and doing all the stuff would be my last resort because working with the cellphone was very easy and straight, hope somebody has any clue.

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Thanks Bozotclown1970,
i´ve read http://www.soliforum.com/post/133098/#p133098, so I reflashed the emutag as you posted. Everything went perfect and I´ve recovered my emutag so can still write in it using the cellphone

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Hey Sicicop.
Can you tell me how many hours of print (approximately) your Emutag can withstand on one set of batteries?

I'm really curious how this works out in practice and whether longer prints (20h or more) will work on Emutag.

I am not 100% sure, but I'm confident someone will correct me if I am wrong. I believe somewhere in the neighbor hood of 18 hours is the max you can print with new batteries.

12

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

I'd say the same, 15 to 20 hours, but at least in my case, once the printing is running, it finish although the batteries are empty (emutag doesn't need power from the batteries when printing)

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Thanks guys for the answer. I tested the EmuTag and in fact, after about 16 hours of printing, the batteries (L1121F / AG8) still kept the EmuTag alive. After measuring voltage, batteries were about 1.0V.

After that, I saved the NFC data from EmuTAG, replaced the batteries, and rewrote data. I think it is good practice not to waste almost full TAG id's.

For interested, instead of the AG8 battery (about 50mAh) I was able to put the L1131F / AG10 (85mAh) batteries there. They fit perfectly and should give you a little over 20 hours of print.

In addition, if someone has a Da Vinci Mini, I made a simple grip for EmuTag.

Anyone know of any software for the ACR122U that will write UID on emutag?

You have a couple of problems here:

1. You have not put a Tag ID in. You have to update pages 00 and 01 with that information.
2. You have not put that password in the EMU. Second to the last page, the one with FF FF FF FF in it.
3. You have not put the Pack Code in the EMU. First two bytes of last page.

Now if you update the last byte of the last page with 16 the Password will be updated when you turn your printer on.

Can you explain why there is battery on this tag ? The tag received with printer didn't have this
It's for what ? When the battery arrive at 18h, it's Dead ? I need to buy an other or the tag continu to work ?
I must to "relaod" battery ?
Thanks !

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Not sure, but i guess the batteries keep the software emulation and the tag info, when you run out your batteries allways loose the  tag page´s information and sometimes also the emutag software so flashing it again is needed.

When you only loose tag page´s information, all tha you need to do is "reload" the tag with another tag information (new ID, pack and password).

When you are printing, although your batteries run out, the printer keep emutag working till finish the print.

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

Then the batteries just keep in memory the tag informations and when i'm printing, this informations are taken by 3D printer, it's this ? And after 18 hours , there are not tags in emutag, and it's at this moment I relaod tag info.
But, tag info are juste on the top Of this topic ?
If I put tag informations in tag, can will I put the same informations the second Time ?

Thanks

You are way to worried about the batteries. The EMU is just like any other electronic device. It needs power to work and that's what the batteries are for. When they go dead you re-flash the EMU and put data back into the EMU and start printing again.

What's necessary to re-flash the EMU?  I'm looking at getting an EMUtag, but only have my android phone to read/write it with. Is an adruino necessary for reflashing?  I just don't want to buy an EMUtag and end up dead in the water after 18hrs of printing.

I can't say an Arduino is the only way to flash an EMU Tag, but I can tell you it is really easy if you use one. If you would like more information on updating/flashing your EMU Tag PM me or cgrillo.

Re: EMUTAG - Easiest control for read and write

If you are worried about the batteries running out over a long print, you could supply the power from a single 18650 (or other cell) lithium cell and connect it to the PCB, but be careful.

You could also find 5V on the printer and use this to supply the PCB.

The emutag FAQ shows these connections for external power

REMEMBER that you can't have a 5v source connected at the same time as the batteries or you're effectively putting current through the batteries.
They will explode (pop!) if you do it for any length of time.
