Topic: My workspace

I wanted to share my spool holder and workspace setup here

It's a couple of closet shelf/rod brackets, 3/4 PVC

I have another piece of PVC wedged near the wall at the bottom of the bracket, I'm going to eyehooks in it at each spot for each spool

The filament feeds nicely behind that, and threaded through a hole in the right of the tool holder I have mounted, then into the printer

Re: My workspace

Nice setup man! The fan and the kill switch look like a great idea. I'm gonna have to do something like this. Is the humidity bad in your area? Here in virginia this summer its been pretty humid. I've been thinking of getting a reusable silica gel dehumidifer and a cheap hydrometer to throw in the tuber-ware container that I'll be storing all my plastic in. I'm not sure if its worth it though.

Re: My workspace

Inside my house it's pretty good most of the year... I suspect I'll take the spools off and put them in a tub like you suggested if its sticky out.

It only takes a second to take them on and off anyhow

Re: My workspace

I just ordered one of those Antec fans.  How did you power it?

Re: My workspace

I happened to have a DC power supply for powering an external hard drive laying around from another project.

Re: My workspace

How did you wire the fan?  I have a 12v 1 amp adapter I have been using to run a 40mm fan for the extruder, and sometimes a 120mm fan for the back.  I just soldered a couple of headers onto the wires, heat shrinked them and stuck them into the connectors for the black and red wires on the fans.

I can't get this Antec fan to run that way.  The LEDs will turn on, but I can't get the fan to spin.  Does something need to be connected to the yellow wire on the fan?

Re: My workspace

My yellow wire is not hooked up at all...  I think that is a sensor wire to detect the fan's RPM

There is also a speed setting on the antec fan, you could try that switch, but it sounds like it might be bad or maybe the polarity is wrong.
