Topic: XYZprinting hand held scanner

Anyone tried one yet ?
I've seen a pretty decent review of it on Amazon, seems a good price.

Neat.

Still, one review does not make it all that great... in fact, it seems like the reviewer literally had no idea what they were doing to begin with... and I kind of found the review to be a bit sketchy. I wouldn't be surprised if they just repacked their scanning technology from the AiO into a handheld device... well, the majority of it, anyway.

I would wait on purchasing it until there were more reviews. But that's just me.

I would agree with that.
Had a look at some videos on youtube and the results don't look much better than with a kinect.
Probably ok for scanning peoples heads but not much good at smaller, detailed objects by the look.

Further reviews on Amazon would seem to confirm my thoughts.
A waste of time/money by the look of it.

Re: XYZprinting hand held scanner

just bought one for my classroom and the software is really crappy. won't download and if you do the update it asks for constantly it crashes. I have scanned a persons face and printed it with decent results but trying to do an object is awful.  have to use the handyscan app as the scanner app that came with it won't see the 3d printer connection so I can't scan at all. If I update any of the software to the newest version it just crashes the program. Tch support logged in to my computer and spent 2 hr. trying to get it to work and told me to just use the old windows 8 version until the get a newer upgrade.
