Re: Please list software you use for Modelling & Design

-    I use Creo 2.0 and just recently began using Creo 3.0. I'm one of the lucky ones that works for a company that has access to a lot of engineering software.

Software: PTC Creo Parametric
Versions: 2.0 & 3.0
Avg Cost: $5K-$8K (depending on modules used)
Usability: For the Intermediate/Advanced Modeler (Must have some modeling experience)
Desc: This software has an abundance of features and automation abilities, but its not an easy software to learn.

I can truly recommend Ortosoft. What I love about them is that they don't leave you with a ready product that you have no idea how to operate, but provide you with clear manual to implementation and also technical support if anything goes wrong. Check them out and learn for yourself - ortosoft.eu

Re: Please list software you use for Modelling & Design

OK, let's see...

Sketchup (gave up on it a year ago)
Solidworks this is my primary modeling program
Meshlab for cleaning and tweaking, especially for post scan cleanup
Meshmixer (love the sculpting features)
NetFabb for fixing and and cleaning models
3D Studio Max.  Still trying to learn it, but I need to dedicate more time to it.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
SD3 printer w/too many mods,  Printrbot Simple Maker Ed.,  FormLabs Form 1+
AnyCubic Photon, Shining 3D EinScan-S & Atlas 3D scanners...
...and too much time on my hands.

Re: Please list software you use for Modelling & Design

use primarily 123D Design and Blender for the greater majority of my modeling needs
Netfabb Basic for repairing non-manifold stuff
Have Meshmixer, but dont really use it much, so not very familiar with it

tried Sketchup - didnt like it at all.
have Sculptris (free from Z-Brush) but havent really played with it too much yet to really get a handle on it
Have a couple of others I downloaded, but havent tried out yet as well...

I wont use any program that relies on an internet connection - living in the boonies our internet is not robust enough, or fast enough, for that.

too many options, not enough time! hmm

SD4 #1 & #2 - Lawsy carriages, E3D v6, Rumba controller board, mirror bed plate, X motor fan, upgraded PSU & Mica bed heater
SD4 #3 - in the works ~ Folgertech FT-5, rev 1
Printit Industries Beta Tester - Horizon H1

Re: Please list software you use for Modelling & Design

I still have a copy of Alibre CAD that is still quite useful and work fine for 3d printing.
The one that I actualy use most of the time and is loaded on my laptop is 123D design.
this seems the most useful of the current free software.
FreeCAD works OK .
OScad I have not wrapped my head around.
scetchup I have not liked.
