Topic: ZeroPi

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/12 … le-develop

Looks like:
* 32-bit ARM
* Runs a port of Marlin
* Enough I/O for a single-extruder printer
* Bolts straight on top of a raspberry pi
* Only $25

Maybe worth trying as a budget replacement board for a solidoodle?

Usual riskiness/delays of kickstarter applies!

SD3. Mk2b + glass, heated enclosure, GT2 belts, direct drive y shaft, linear bearings, bowden-feed E3D v5 w/ 0.9° stepper

I plan to some day upgrade my SD2 as stated b4 similar to an apprentice so Rumba or similar for me due to future mods already supported unlike Solidoodle prepped their (breadboard style) printers for.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Quite a different product! All those external stepper driver boards... Which could be quite good, they certainly look like they have proper cooling, probably for the higher current capacity for bigger motors. There's no raspberry pi / SBC involved there, looks just like a regular uC-based system with all the bells on, I guess the "Pi" in their name is largely coincidental?

My favourite description: "no fuss, no strange" smile

I guess what I liked about the zeropi thing was the low cost / low feature approach, using the familiar toolchain, with the direct connection to the raspberry pi - a cheap & compact pathway to a highly effective internet-connected 3d printer system?
