So, is there a way to install meshlab on a Linux machine?  The snap package is a virus, according to Sophos, there isn't a debian repository so apt-get won't work, and they don't provide a frigging make file so you can't compile open source software from source.

I'm not a Linux user, but I'd venture to say that your anti-virus maybe wrong on this one.  It wouldn't be the first time an anti-virus program found problems for no reason at all.

FWIW, if someone is starting in Meshlab 2016,  the Poisson part has changed slightly
