Topic: Concept Laser by day, Solidoodle Press by night....

Greetings, mechanical engineer here who has been working with additive manufactured metals (powder based laser sintering) in my job for a couple years but wanted to be able to dabble at home too.  Just got my Solidoodle Press, so far mostly positive experience (once I figure out how to solve the bed adhesion issue I have when using Repetier...probably don't have my Slic3r settings right.  Haven't had that problem with Soliprint.)  Anyway, hello all, and looking forward to much exchange of information.  I went with the Press because I frankly wanted to test where the industry was at on desktop "plug and play" at a price point that is going after mass-market... have to say, my Press was pretty much that, I was printing things after doing only a z-axis cal.  Some larger prints were having problems stemming from the limited control in Soliprint, which is why I am having "growing pains" using Repetier at the moment.

Hi and welcome. This message was received from pirvan, another user from this forum.

Anyway, when you get it, spray some hair spray on the bed, then put the glass on top.  Wait a few minutes, then heat up the bed, wait for about 15 minutes, then let it cool down.  The glass will stick to the bed.
Then spray a thin layer of hairspray on the surface, heat the bed up, and let the spray dry.  You can the print on that bed and your prints will stick very well.  You only need to spray a bit more when you see the print lifting.  I can usually do about 10 prints before I need to spray again.  Much better  (and cheaper) than Kapton.

I followed this steps (with the adding that I sprayed much much more spray) and, after having incredibile adhesion problem, last night I had to let the bed cool so I can take the print from it. Also, please note that bed adhesion will increase with the printings, mostly because a thin layer of ABS will remain on the bed, incresing adhesion.
