Topic: CTC Dual extruder, left extruder issues.

Hello,

I have the CTC Dual extruder printer and i have been printing perfectly with the right extruder
I began to print with the left extruder so i would not have to change filaments and so on, but when it begins the extrusion making the filament anchor from right to left it reaches the end of the bed and stop and it sounds like its stuck, then after about 2 second it goes and begins to print normally. Why would this happen only with my left extruder?

Thanks

Any input?

Sounds like it's trying to travel beyond the edge of the bed. Is it still using the coordinates for the other extruder, so trying to get that one to the edge, which would mean pushing the left extruder past the edge? Just a thought. I've never used dual extruders, but that sounds feasible.

I think Goshdarnit might be on to something.

Your left extruder can go further to the left than your right extruder. Your right extruder can go further to the right than your left extruder. The center of the bed, is not really the center of each of their printing limits.

You can optimize the print space if your right nozzle does the work at the outside edges on the right, and your left does the printing at the outside left edges, otherwise, you lose print bed size, in a way. No matter which nozzle you print with, it can't go to both edges.

RoVa3D with five nozzles (first nozzle down, four to go)
Slic3r and Pronterface
Filastruder and Filawinder - soon enough
Current hurdles - humidity, offsets

Did you set the size of printer in software correctly?

also see if it knows the 35mm gap between nozzles when selecting right/left head

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs
