Topic: Dual Printing STLs

As I am researching dual material printing more actively, I came across this video which does a nice job of explaining how to process dual material STL files using Slic3r.  He has also had great success with bonding Ninjaflex to ABS during the prints.

Slic3r can easily handle separate profiles for each filament...but something not addressed is enabling 2 separate print speed settings for each hot end.  I think if printing with ABS/FlexPLA, you might have to default to the lower speed required...

Re: Dual Printing STLs

Hey All!

Using the basic technique illustrated in the above video, I created the Dual Material .stl below which wardjr so kindly printed with his new Cyclops!

Attached are the independent .stl's as well as the amf.gcode file.  the gcode file is easy...you just drag it into the RH Object Placement pane.  Assuming you already have RH set up for dual extrusion, it will automatically generate the gcode for each and you will see it as above in the Gcode Editor tab.  The settings are fixed at 1.75 filament diameter; nozzle diameter of .40 and extrusion multiplier of 1, with heats at 225.  You can override the temps manually once the print starts.  If you want to customize anything else, then try the independent files and follow the video in the above post where you can set extrusion multipliers and nozzle diameters for each filament.

Happy Valentine's Day!
