After my magnet fell off the third or fourth time I gave up on it. I imagine the heat from the printer's interior was enough to render the adhesive meh. I have a roll of .5" Kapton tape which would probably fix that, but then there would still be the issue of the hole in the door, dear Liza, dear Liza...
Definitely possibilities for completely printed solutions, although I don't consider using springs cheating unless you just want the challenge. Take a look at this Revoltech joint and see if that can be modified. Obviously my model is not a 100% sound solution but it's a starting point. The fact that I can concept an idea then hold it the same day makes me squee just a bit.
