Topic: Making molds for Methacrylate Casting on FFF/FDM printers

Hi all,

This is an initial Idea so I just going to throw it in the air.

Do you think is possible to use a FDM 3d printer to make molds for Methacrylate Casting?

I have read of Methacrylate Casting using molds made on SLS printers, but they are very expensive.

I know the problem here is finding the right Polymer to do the job, do you think some of the Taulman's Nylon could work? a filament that does this exist?

Best.

Jaime.

In theory, Taulman Nylon should work.  I think its the wrong kind of material for molds if you are going much lager than about 3x3x3" in your design.

What are you wanting to cast?
