Topic: SD4 Motherboard Replacement

I have accidentally zapped the extruder fan output pins on my SD4 motherboard.  It's my own fault.  A replacement board from SD is $179.

My question is: will it come with firmware already loaded (i.e. can I swap the motherboards and get right back to work), or will I need to install firmware after the swap?

Re: SD4 Motherboard Replacement

I would recommend buying a better replacement.  I bought my rumba with the drv8825 drivers for less than that.

Bowden SD3, Rumba, E3D hotend, Mk5 with RtRyder changes, Direct drive Y axis and bearings, GT2 pulleys and braided fishing line, Lawsy linear bearing conversion, M3 Z screw.

+1 on the Rumba,

Cheaper and stronger. If you were to have to flash firmware, it would make more sense to not only save money, but also upgrade to a better board.

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

Rumba for sure!

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

Re: SD4 Motherboard Replacement

RUMBA all the away.  Lots of features not found on the standard SD board, and relatively easy to implement.  There are a few how-to's here, and the firmware is much easier to upload, since it's built on an Arduino board.

Edit:
I must be getting senile.  Just realized that I voted for a RUMBA when I wanted to say RAMPS.  So it's not RUMBA, is RAMPS!

Gotta start taking my pills....

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
SD3 printer w/too many mods,  Printrbot Simple Maker Ed.,  FormLabs Form 1+
AnyCubic Photon, Shining 3D EinScan-S & Atlas 3D scanners...
...and too much time on my hands.
