Topic: Solidoodle 2 Silicone Heatpads!!!!

Ok I got my custom silicone heatpads for the solidoodle 2 if anyone is interested.
I should start off with noting they are TOOO powerful. The Solidoodle 3 pads I sold are less powerful than these. These are DEFINITELY to much for the stock xbox 360 powersupply. Its a mistake from the manufacturer.

Guessing they are 350 watts!

They put the cable on the wrong side.... The cord is long enough that it can go around and still work. Another mistake...

Im selling these for a loss because I just need to get rid of them. So if you're interested, Ill sell them each for $10.

I have extra 6x6 1/8 aluminum plate to go along if needed.

Why not measure the current draw (ideal) or resistance (hard to measure a resistance this low)?

Riiight, I dont have an ammeter and my cheapo multimeter reads from .4 to .6 ohms, which isnt too far off if you throw 12v at it.  About 240-340 Watts.

Re: Solidoodle 2 Silicone Heatpads!!!!

Put several in series, then divide by the number of heat beds in circuit.

I'm just trying to help, specifying current draw will help people feel confident about what they're buying.

+1, would like one, but really want to know how much watts my p/s will need to be.

Ok ok, 3 of them measured together is getting 1.4-1.5 Ohms, so I'd say its between 288 and 300 Watts. I'm connecting it to a 400 PC PSU right now.

From 22c to 60c in 12 seconds and then to 94c in 30 seconds and after a minute it was at 126c measured inches away with an infared thermometer while on a cold, metal clothes dryer smile

Re: Solidoodle 2 Silicone Heatpads!!!!

so do you use the same temp sensor to control it? and will it maintain like 80c even though faster heating?
not sure how motherboard/controls would take the highre wattage draw even with bigger power supply. are you going to make them send correct pads? Id rather have that if so. but if it will work with standard motherboard etc with like a 400watt power supply it would be cool to heat bed fast as extruder and cut the waiting out b4 printing.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

The temp sensor on these pads will require an adjustment in the firmware for accurate readings but yeah, it would be much like it is currently, maintaining the desired temp, except you will NEED a relay for these. Yeah I know... I wish they were on the correct side too, I complained to the company and they basically said it was my fault for assuming they build their pads to mount under surfaces. They said they would replace them at half the cost but same shipping (the spendy part) plus it takes a lot of time.

any chance for correct ones to be available later? guess Ill have to put up with my old heater for now til other mods are done to handle something like this. bummer these resister chunks are slow and uneven heat offten
