Re: Nylon

I got some filaments almost like Taulmans T Glase, very similar in properties and function and some  1.75mm Nylon as someone requested.

Pretenda, maybe you should use Kapton tape to solve it!?

Re: Nylon

Hey oklok,

Thanks for the reply. I've since moved to using a garolite bed for my nylon prints and have had awesome success with it. If anything they stick too much, for larger prints I've put strips of blue painters tape down to help me release some of the prints. My printer is in storage at the moment though until I can move into our new house and get my workshop set back up. sad

No problemo!

The problem with nylon is it doesn’t stick to the plate easily. So to solve this you can buy garolite bed to solve it. And if it sticks to much then maybe you lightly sanded it to much improve the adhesion. Try smooth it out a bit somehow, then maybe it wont stick so much.

Re: Nylon

Guys, If your nylon is nice and dry you can use elmers glue all on glass. I have tried it several times with excellent results.

Just apply a thin layer of it and let it dry.

Re: Nylon

Hi Guys.

This is an initial Idea so I just going to throw it in the air.
Do you think is possible to use a FDM 3d printer to make molds for Methacrylate Casting?

I have read of Methacrylate Casting using molds made on SLS printers, but they are very expensive.

I know the problem here is finding the right Polymer to do the job, do you think some of the Taulman's Nylon could work?

Best.

Jaime.

Re: Nylon

What is the temprature of the material you want to mold?

Re: Nylon

Try Real Nylon 12 Filament at [edited].   It's not nylon fishing line or these other off shoots... Has some good videos of printed parts as well.... No fumes just real nylon 12 polymer. Has running conditions listed as well.
