Topic: CraftWare 1.0b

Hello,

I am one of the developers of CraftWare, a very new slicer software I am working on in the past 2 years. The software is free, but closed source at the moment. Available for Windows atm., but a Mac version will be released soon as it was written in Qt C++ to ease portability.

We have worked on many great features users may find interesting like interactive support management which allows you to place non-vertical support bars.

A nice gcode visualizer is also added to the software. Please try with complex scene to see how fast is the slicing speed. It would be nice to hear more feedback about CraftWare.

I can't post link here, but google "CraftWare beta" for example.

Thanks,
Janos.

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

From the screenshots it looks very nice... I tried it under Linux (wine) and it starts (and it seems to slice as well, superfast!) but doesn't display anything... Is there any chance for a native Linux version?

Just tried to click on the picture so I could turn the model and see it from the bottom - doh!

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

seem to work well... (win7 x64/ craftware 1.01 beta)

i found a bug on the selection of the print quality. when you choose a print quality in easy mode, the switch to expert mode, the parameters of the 'easy mode quality' are not pushed to the expert mode parameters (the parameters of the expert mode didn't change in all box, whatever you choose in easy mode)

but i'm really surprise that the parameters of the easy mode ( low/medium/high) are very good for my SD4... the test print i made is very good for a first run.. the 'low quality' match my usual 0.2 layer slic3er profil ..

i will follow the progress with great attention..

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Hjani- please send a PM or post here when Mac version is ready for late alpha/early beta phase- I will be happy to assist with bug reports and some code development, if you would like.

Thanks for all your efforts on this app-

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Janos,

This is excellent work.  I just downloaded this and gave it a try.  I didn't print anything yet, but did a slice on one of my more complicated models (Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog), and it produced a fantastic slice.

The support it produces automatically is incredibly well thought out, and the fact that you can add manual support puts it in a class by itself.  In fact the way manual support works, is nearly identical in concept with the way i was adding support manually in Repetier.  This makes the process so much easier.

Thanks for sharing, fantastic work, can't wait to give the GCode a try.

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Awesome piece of software. I love it.
It has ton of features that any experienced 3d printing nerd needs.
One problem with it i find is its default settings are not friendly.
For some reasons infill extrusion rate is a 150%.
Also infill percentage is strange. 100% will not give you solid model, it will overflow so much your model will get ruined as soon as it reaches infill layer.
I addressed the infill issue and hopefully fix is coming soon.

One feature that made me chose this software is that it starts and finishes one perimeter at the time. Slic3r and CURA jump from perimeter to perimeter until all are finished, it creates lots of problems such as time loss and dry start due to travel and nozzle wipe during travel from one perimeter  to another.

It also retracts everytime perimeter is changed. This is great because you dont want to retract doing infill (for example) as other slicers do.

One thing i hope it would do is to be little more "other printers" friendly with default settings. No 150% or such. But its all a matter of tweaking. Then again, isnt it tweaking that ruins first impression ?

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Any update on this software?  I looks very promising but I haven't seen any updates in the last 2 months.  Iwould really like to see this progress further.

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Hello there,
would Craftware work with a Repetier flashed XYZ DaVinci printer?
I tried it and it recognizes the printer, I can only get it to home the extruder so far :-(
Any idea?

Thanks,

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

I have no idea if it can control your DaVinci, but even if it can't, you can always generate the GCode, save it, and import it into Repetier for printing.

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

I tried it a few days ago.  Tried several models, slices very well, but when I export g-code, it has wrong temp for bed and extruder.  Is it just me?  I have checked box and set temp for bed at 85, and extruder at 200, but comes out at 110 for bed and even higher for extruder?  Even after manually re setting the temps in the g-code, it just sits and waits for bed temp to be reached, even though it is set lower and bed has reached  new temp setting, it never starts...

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

You might want to setup your printer specifications in Craftware first.  Additionally, you should copy the starting and ending custom Gcode instructions you currently have in Slic3r into the Craftware options.

Edit:

Also if you want to control the temperature manually, either remove or comment out the M104 and M109 commands (Extruder).  Do the same for the M140 and M190 commands (Bed).

+1 on that. I am another hold-out on Windows XP.

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a Craftbot 3D printer.

I wanted to try the slicer software craftware in advance but could not get it working on my PCs.
I tried it on two Win7 PCs but the software dont want to start. I tried 3 different versions of craftware - all of them with the same results.
I contacted Craftunique - the seller of the Craftbots per email but never got a reply.

Doe anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks

Re: CraftWare 1.0b

yeah
u probably need net framework installed.
I am pressurized to see that widows 7 does not come with essential conponent such as visual basic and net framework pre installed.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa … +framework
Download and instal
2.0, 3.5 and 4.5 versions both 32 and 64 bit version if you have 64bit windows. Otherwise just 32.
