Another Repair Part...

I love it.  I am new here and new to 3-d printing but I  have had a home machine shop of sorts for over 10 years.
Several times I have machined parts to fix something.
IMHO what you show is an excellent application for 3-d printing.
Great when you can make a part faster than  finding and ordering one or making a trip to the store.

Not meaning to be rude...but I was not asking for a critique in this case.  This is the Print Showoff Area...and this is where you say "Great Job" etc.

i believe you are thinking of an angular deflection coupler, like a spider coupler or a love-joy. But, actually, based on how their coupler blew apart it looks like the fracture of a hard plastic not a soft plastic.

I think there's a decent chance this coupler is not needed for angular deflection reasons but rather just for assembly or something, one reason or another preventing a direct coupling (maybe even as a cheap destruction torque limiter.)

To OP: if it turns out you needed something softer...you can take the file you have, google "OpenSCAD molding script" and use that to generate a two part mold that you fill with a cornstarch-silicone mixture (often called "Oogloo"). It would make a flexible part. That would be intense!

Good Job I find myself doing quick projects like this all the time.  It's more about the satisfaction of a job well done than always looking for the most cost effective route.  As long as it works that's all that matters and so what if it breaks in another few years.  Print another one or beef up the design if need be.  It's not the end of the world if it breaks... Oh no! my garage door opener isn't working.

It is about the fun and satisfaction of literally creating something out of thin air (with CAD, a machine and filament, of course) and then having it work!  Much fun!

I'm a tinkerer, I repair anything and everything I can, and love finding unusual solutions to problems. This is a perfect example of why I am stoked to have a printer!!

I was just telling how this coupling is designed and where to find some. and no the ones I spoke of are not for angle connection. I meant no disrespect just offering info that I knew about them.
