Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

I quickly noticed that after  I opened the box up.... It was a sad day until I found the fuse!

I was just starting to get really nice cuts in the aluminum too.... Ill have another crack at it later this week.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

I just had this same problem. Thanks so much for sharing the info on a quick fix! Would have been chasing the problem all night if not for this forum and your posts. After doing some research on power supply fuses, I am debating on a slow blow fuse (t8al250v) instead of the supplied fast one (f8al250v). Any thoughts?

I feel like an idiot..... There was a blown fuse just underneath where the power cord plugs in..... It's very discrete....

I better go find another fuse in case I blow this one! Must be making to large of cuts in the AL! : )

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

The fast blow fuses usually protect some of the more finicky components.... but the fuses themselves can be finicky and blow before their limit is reached, I would stick with stock unless it keeps blowing them but remember sometimes fuses are just made bad.

I just finished up my cart and put my machine in the garage!

I alsu just bought Cut2D to play with.

I have some projects that require engraving.

Its nice cause it also has ramp and peck drilling feature. I cant wait to burn through some aluminum!

I ran through some AL with meshcam and I dont like it because I cant change speed for full width cuts without doing some extra work. Works awesome for everything else though.

I am getting better at it and have materials and cutters to start making some PCB boards and Flight simulator panels.

Here are some projects I've been working on for fun.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Nice work. Is that Sketchup I see?  How did you go from Sketchup  to cut2D?  Import stl or dxf?

SD2 - Glass Bed, Fans on PCB and Y motor, Custom enclosure
Slicer - Simplify3D

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Yes! Thanks!

I used Meshcam for that project. Meshcam can use STL files. but you can make all the parts in 2D in sketchup and export PDF to cut 2D.

I didn't have cut 2d at the time.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Need help! My hard drive went out and had to re install. I cant get the spindle to turn with mach 3. I did the vfd settings and output in mach 3. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Never mind. Spindle relay control was disables for some dam reason! FFFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

All good now!

Very cool.  What type of polymer?

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

G10. Used a lot for knife handle making.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Greetings,

I'm new to this forum and I discover this post, while I was looking for reviews about the X6-1500 because my company is going to invest in one of those. Do you recommend the USB version? and moreover, Do you recommend this machines from Carving-CNC?

Thanks in advance,

Efel

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Got my tracking number, my X6 USB will be here this week! I am excited, nervous, and everything inbetween.

I want to take pre-made aluminum project boxes and do some milling on them, and my biggest concern right now is fixturing so I am not edgefinding etc for every single box.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

CNC is here and all set up! The manual says 32 bit windows 7 only, but is this really the case? 64-bit Windows 7 has all the 32-bit provisions to run it without issue....

I cannot seem to get the steppers moving manually though.....any ideas?

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

I am running 64 Bit.

I would have to look at your settings.

92

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

I got it figured out! I was not running the driver plugin as I already had Mach3 installed before anything showed up.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

The next crazy issue I had was that the auto-set tool that it came with was scripted weird, so I sat here toying with the script trying to get it to work right as it seemed to be running in reverse. Before modifying it, it would search "up" on the Z-Axis for the work surface. I then modified the value in the script to be negative so it would search down, and neglected to realize the other values would then need to be changed too. I went throw a few trial runs that ended in panic as the Z-Axis mashed the end mill down into the pad after finding it twisting the gantry. No damage it seems thankfully.

I finally got fed up, set everything back to the defaults for the script etc and just reversed the motor axis control in Mach 3 and all is working well now. This was great since CamBam seems to want to auto-convert negative and positive values to what it thinks they should be, which was the exact opposite of how the Z axis was running, so I had a hard time trying to understand why I would start a job made with CamBam and it would move UP off the work surface and start milling in mid air! tongue

Anyways, simply reversing the motor for the Z axis in Mach3 solved all of this.

Next project is actually getting something to mill with a decent look to it, make sure I am not missing steps, etc. I also need to find a better way than using the Heightmap tool in CamBam to get a picture imported for engraving as the heightmap tool in CamBam sucks when you are trying to use a simple Black/White tone bitmap and just want Black to be engraved only.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Try meshcam art trail.

Also I have a working script for the auto zero tool if you need.

Also check out G-wizard to calculate speeds and feeds. they have a 30 trail also.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Hello,

I'm new here at this forum and also bought the x6-1500gt usb and like a lot of you i'm confronted with some issues, for example the quick start guide is explaining the settings for the xulifeng mach 3 usb motion card, but the driver they provided me is for a NcUsbPod XHC mach3 usb motion card, it's for the yoocnc m3-usbx4 card they put in the machine now.
And there the problems begin, Z-axis control is reversed and i can't get it right if i change it inmotor  home/soft limits it stops working , and spindle control works only on full power and once started it won't stop again.

Has anyone  some tips or knows the correct settings or has anyone the correct quick start guide?

Here is the quick start, My autozero, and the VFD manual. Ill see if I can find my drivers.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Stevos758 thank you for your reply and the files, the quick start guide you send also refers to another mach3 motion card then the one they put in this machine,
When i startup mach3 it shows me the following card: NcUsbPod XHC mach3 usb motion card, this is another card as discribed in the manual.
I've got it almost to work, only the Z-axis is still going the wrong way and i can't get it to go in reverse, tryd it in Motor home/soft limits, but there is no effect (on none of the axis in that matter).

with kind regards,
Erwin.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

Can anyone recommend me a nice engineering plastic to machine?

I get great results with acrylic and poly carbonate but they cost a lot to get in thick sheets. I tried what I think was nylon but it instantly overheated and made a mess around the cutting site.

Re: X6-1500GT CNC router

I think you are looking for some Delrin?

It seems pretty reasonable.

I know its pretty useful stuff and easy to machine.
