Topic: Changing filament whilst printing?

I KNOW I saw a thread last year on a brief "how to" on changing filament in the middle of a print. But I can't seem to find it via the search function hmm Any leads?
Much appreciated in advance!

Not sure about leads, but the basic idea as I know it is:

setup your "pause" code on repetier/whatever host software you use, to move the nozzle out of the way and drop temp, switch your filament manually, bring temp up, extrude a bit, clean junk, then hit "resume.

What sort of situation are you switching mid print? I always have to calibrate my filament.

Peace,

[sorry that i don't have a lead, try "pause switch filament" as a search term.

Actually, I just did that using the "Site:soliforum.com" preface for a google search.

Here's an autopause thread: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/2516/wip … when-idle/

And here seems to be what you saw earlier: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/3870/hel … ing-wrong/

Re: Changing filament whilst printing?

There is a company at 3ders.org that allows you to cut your filament and fuse in a new color.

Here is the video of how the product works.

This is originally intended for users whom have short pieces of filament that are too long to throw away yet not long enough for a full print.

I am an open book, write on my pages that I may learn the wisdom that you posses.
