Topic: Anyone interested in nylon?

Hey guys,

So I've obtained a fair amount of nylon powder - the same powder Shapeways uses in their "Strong & Flexible Plastic" service. Here's the MSDS:

http://www.shapeways.com/rrstatic/mater … ngflex.pdf

It works just fine in a Filastruder, at the same temperatures as ABS:

Would anyone here be interested in some to experiment with? I don't have time to do small quantities - it will probably be 10-12lbs for around $35 shipped in the US.

It's available on the store:

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

Yes! Should I PM you?

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

What temp does it print at?
What about the Polycarbonate you were testing at the end of kiskstarter?
With your experience how flexible is it?
Do you have any experience with Taulman 618 or 645? Which is it more like?

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

Be sure you dry it really well.  The nylon is what Shapeways can't re-use for SLS because the melt flow has dropped too much from heat exposure (making it better for extrusion).  I don't think they are too concerned about keeping it safe from humidity judging from the still at the end of this video - http://youtu.be/1bmTiBWp0No?t=3m7s

Nope, just sit tight. I'll go live on our store (which is not public yet) sometime next week.

+10C over ABS
I have never tested polycarbonate.
It is very flexible, and I could not break a single layer box by hand.
I have experience with neither.

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

Hey Tim, I need to change the email on my account for order #1004, how should I go about this? The email on my account is my paypal email, that is via my company and not monitored. That is why I need this account transferred over to my personal email. Please let me know how to do this. Thanks

Thank you. I have replied.

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

Just make sure to package the Nylon extremely well.  That stuff covered everything in my second KIT because of a small hole in the bag during shipping.

Yup. Triple bagging it this time, and it is being shipped by itself - nothing else in the box that could poke holes in it.

How did a suspicious package filled with leaking white powder make it to the final destination?

Re: Anyone interested in nylon?

Never mind guns, what do we do about the 3D printable coke?

Which brings to mind an image of Tim sitting on a giant pile of PA2200 with a machine gun.
