This is not a hack or an error, there are some centimeters left in spool. Since those centimeters are less than 100 the printer shows "000 m", but you are able to print because it's not really empty. I think this will happen even if you have 0.01 mm left in the spool (or whatever the min count unit is).

Maybe this is not what happened to you, it's just a possibility.

Edit: OFC in this state you will only be able to do one more print.

ok guys, so i had an idea which im sure a couple others have thought of as well, couldn't we use something such as an arduino or pi zero or something similar to simulate a nfc tag that would tell the printer the settings for filament which we could change to accommodate for 3rd party filaments?

Yes you could if you have all of the machine commands sent to the Tag and their responses.

New to this forum and am stoked to see the community effort to overcome this chip setback.

I haven't had a chance to go through the 55 pages of this thread, so please forgive if this has already been brought up.

Along with so many others, I'm having the issue of "spool error" and am currently dead in the water. While trying to get different spools to take, I noticed four small white rollers on the black spool holder that aid with the turning of the spool. By any chance are these hooked up to the meter count mechanism? If so, I imagine it wouldn't take much for any of us - that can still print, that is - to design and upload a bypass that can be printed so these wheels aren't turned during regular printing.

Oh, please let it be this simple...

No, the printer keeps track of usage nothing mechanical. This information is also stored on the tag as the printer prints.

It's not that simple. You can tape the nfc chip to the spool holder and keep the spool on a standalone holder and it won't make a difference. The wheels/rollers are just there to make the spool rotate with less friction.

A new error code I saw due to a simple error I made during writing the 08 byte of the tag, (for color)
I was supposed to write 5A505000 (for Green)
I did a typo and wrote 5A325000 (changing the 2nd byte also).

Next when XYZPrinter was trying to print to the da vinci junior wireless (2.2.0) it said "You do not have proper printing material to print this file.(1 is installed; PLA2 is required)"

Apologies I am new, but there are quite a few of you who have done a lot of research (thank you all!!). If this is not something that someone has already reported, I thought I will put this here, if it gives someone clues about the meaning of the 2nd byte and any experiments they want to do with it. Also this error came on my laptop on XYZWare when XYZWare was trying to give the print command to the printer, although the sample print already loaded on the SD card was printing without any issue.

When I corrected the second byte to 5A50, it started working fine again.

Here's what I did to my da vinchi jr my extruder that came with the printer it filled up with filament I had to heat it up then it didn't work the same so I put an aftermarket extruder on works better. I even printed an air duct to cool filament.

Hello, I'm a newbie at 3D printing and I just got a da Vinci MiniMaker.
Striving to use Slic3r instead of XYZware, I had to fumble a bit with the source code of the great ThreeDubber tool by charleshyman and XYLenTech (http://www.soliforum.com/topic/11108/da … t/page/10/) to update the GCode header for my printer; I updated their program with an option to specify the GCode header to replace for encryption.
I hope this update is useful to someone else.

It's 4:35 at night and so happy I finally got my Emutag working!
Just a question: If I place the emutag in the printer and set the switch to LOCKED... Does that mean the spool always stays at 300M?

This is in response to your PM and this post.

The answer is no. If I remember correctly when you switch the lock switch that means that the protected data is locked not the whole tag. Since you have and EMU. it will not make any difference. When that tag is used up just copy the data for a new tag in and keep going.
