Re: Polymer Suppliers

Hi
I wanted to make sure everyone knew that we offer a wide selection of resin and colorants for home extruders.  These include many of the high-performance grades, such as Ultem, Carbon Fiber, and Polycarbonate - as well as the standard grades like ABS, PLA, and PETG.

You can check them out at 3DXTECH. http://www.3dxtech.com/plastic-pellets/

Wow, you have quite the selection.  PETG is actually hard to find in itself, but then you went and got some with carbon fiber added.  Only place I've seen Ultem pellets too -- I can't imagine the kind of heated chamber temperature required for that stuff.

I have printed with all the 'normal' to 'somewhat normal' filament types (ABS/PLA/PETG/Nylon/PP/PC/TPU/TPE) successfully before, and the only one I have failed repeatedly with is Delrin.  It adheres to a raft of PLA (and by that I mean it welds itself to it), but then tears itself apart before it finishes printing even small objects.  I assume Ultem warps multiple times more than Delrin does, but just wanted to ask if that assumption is right or wrong?

You seem to have an ability to get rarer pellet types - one you might consider looking into in the future is after the Polysher is released I would be really interested in polyvinyl butyral pellets.  The ability to smooth out prints, but not warp them with simple isopropyl alcohol is quite appealing.

You already have quite a number of things that intrigue me though.  I noticed new signups get 10% off their first order, so I just need to save up enough to really make that count (the more you spend the more you save, right?)

Re: Polymer Suppliers

So far I have been very happy with the pellets from Seattle. No need for drying, and I get about 9 inches a min from my filastruder at 181c

Re: Polymer Suppliers

Due to manufacturing issues, in recent months there has been a very limited supply of ABS MG94 pellets.  We ran out in December and have been working hard to try and get some at a price where we will not have to double what we have charged in the past.  We finally made a deal to get some in and had it arrive last week (13 April 2017).

While we were working these deals, we found an ABS product that performs REALLY close to MG94 and in our opinion somewhat better in printing bridges, but we’ll leave that for you to decide.  This new plastic is made by Kumho and is their 750SW Natural product.

Our Kumho Product Offerings: http://store.os3dp.com/23-kumho-abs-pellets

To celebrate the return of MG94 to our store we are offering a 5% discount (5FORMG94) till the end of May on our ABS products and also a discount code to keep the free shipping (FREESHIPPOWDERWITHBUNDLE) while adding one of our Powder Colorant Bundles to the Free Shipping Pellet Bundles.

Re: Polymer Suppliers

The UK links do not sell pellets that I can see on the website, only filament. Might be worth removing them.
Would be good to find a source in the UK for pellets.

The 3D850 I bought from 3DSupplySource awhile back was amazing - even broke off the tip of a metal tool I tried to use on my first print with it, albeit it was a Harbor Freight metal tool.

Have you made any filament with the 3D870 yourself, and how would you say it compares to 3D850?  I still have some EASTAR PETG left from where I bought 50lbs of it in one go, but when that's out I'll definitely need to keep you in mind.

I have made some 3D870 and it is the best PLA I've made / used. It extrudes very smooth, I can extrude a spool an hour with it. I made a post about how well it works on my website https://fusionfilaments.com/pages/faqs

3D870 is close to 3D850 except for a few things. It doesn't like to break when bent. It can flex a whole lot (think living hinge) before it breaks. 3D850 can do this, but not for long. 870 also extrudes without stringing like 850 does when printing. The flow pressure during extrusion is lower than 850 so more can be processed at a time.

I compare 3D870 to ABS. It prints like ABS, it has the rigidness of 4043D, it has layer adhesion similar to PETG, and it has the temperature resistance similar to ABS. I started using 3D870 and I am hooked. Of all the 4043D I've used though the years, 3D870 is my replacement for ABS hands down.

I have some 3D870 for sale right now https://fusionfilaments.com/collections … nt-natural

I can pigment it anyway you'd like if you prefer something other than natural.

Is that 1kg/hour on a Filastruder? That'd be a record!

This was not done on my filastruder, but I do use my filastruder for prototyping materials and pigments though.

Re: Polymer Suppliers

Hi elmoret,

Would you be so kind to add me to the polymer suppliers list?

I have for sale 4043D, 3D850, and 3D870.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Polymer Suppliers

PLA is not worth it anymore it seems.
I calculated the cost associated with running the filastruder for a week and how much filament i would created 18lb box=9 spools(assuming everything goes smooth)
Extruding18lb of pellets would cost you almost $90+$40-$50 electricity for a week.
So i would end up paying $130-$140 for 9 spools of filament which i have to make and wind and keep feeder full day and night hoping that everything goes well (never does)
Dont get me started on calculating electricity because calculation based on Kw is not good since electrical companies do not charge per Kw, they charge per range of Kw. Each range of Kw used has its own price so let that go now please.

Anyway.
9 spools on ebay of ALREADY finished product will cost you around $15 per spool15*9=$135 AT MOST !!!!

With that said, PETG is allot cheaper and allot better then PLA.
So far the only reasonable PETG supplier is filastruder https://www.filastruder.com/collections/pellets

Any feedback on that ?

Does anyone have a good polymer supplier for the UK?

I am buying from Filastruder at the moment but the shipping is a killer.

Re: Polymer Suppliers

If anyone needs ABS colorant in the US let me know. I currently have about 12, 25kg bags in several colors. Can separate it out to smaller bags if needed. Colors available are black, white, yellow, pink, and blue.

Re: Polymer Suppliers

Anyone have a line on PETG?  THe filastruder and 3Dxtech, but they are out.  Anyone use RepRap World in the past?

Re: Polymer Suppliers

I would check my local filament manufacturer.
do your homework to make the transaction quick and easy .
Have your own container be prepared.
donuts go a long way.
where that is exactly depends on your location.
