Topic: What makes the filastruder slower than the Filabot?

I understand there is a massive price difference and I am completely satisfied with the extrusion rate of the filastruder but, what makes the Filabot so much faster?

If i have my info straight the filabot EX 2 has a custom feed screw. This design is patentedd pending this is what for allows a near 1 lilo per hour feed rate. I am sure there are some other differences as well. IIRC more metal parts as well
for case etc. Filabot more for the industrial market it is a preasembed and I expect some testing done. the filasruder is sold as a kit although at least one vendor sells it as a pre built.

Ah. I see that's interesting. I'm assuming the feed screw is tapered to get smaller at the end along with the barrel to allow for higher nozzle pressure. Thanks for the reply!

Re: What makes the filastruder slower than the Filabot?

As has been said here, on the EX2 it's a custom machined screw and faster motor. On the Original it's just a faster motor. The Original's speed specifications seem off to me, they say 40 inches per minute which is 200 feet per hour. A half pound of PLA filament would be 245 feet, but they claim a half pound per hour.

I also haven't seen any third party reports of Filabot speed. Not saying it isn't true, but at the very least speed varies quite a bit with regard to filament size and material type. Some folks have done 1kg in 3 hours on a Filastruder but I wouldn't post that speed on the website specifications section.

The Filabot also consumes 500 watts, while the Filastruder consumes less than 80.
