Topic: Announcing Filastruder 2.1

Version 2.1 of the Filastruder brings primarily cosmetic changes. The lasercut MDF from previous versions is pretty sooty/dirty, and prone to damage from chipping.

The latest version changes the enclosure to lasercut cast acrylic. The fitment of the enclosure is also improved, including increasing clearance for the upper-right enclosure screw.

Additionally instead of the previous stall protection board mounting method which was a bit of a bodge, a new lasercut piece is used:

The rest of the unit is pretty much the same, but here are the other changes:

- Removed nylon mesh covering insulation
- Slightly larger auger, resulting in less space between the inside of the barrel and the outer edge of the auger
- Fan and heater not have long wires that do not need extending

The last few dozen of the v2.0 had the slightly larger auger and longer fan/heater wires.

We plan to make the acrylic lasercut enclosure available separately, I'll probably post that tomorrow. I'll post a link here when it is available.

NICE! I'm really liking the new case.

I've actually thought about printing something to mount the stall protection board to. Does that come with the case upgrade? smile

I'm curious about the auger difference.. Does it change performance significantly? Not that I have any problem with performance mind you..

Re: Announcing Filastruder 2.1

Awesome! The lasercut acrylic makes the Filastruder look "classy." I like it.
The one enclosure screw was a major setback for assembly. I had to deeply countersink the motor screws before it would even come close to cooperating.
This will definitely be a much more attractive option for public.

Thanks guys!

@Kronikabuse: The motors are cross-compatible across all versions, same mounting hole pattern.

Yes. The individual acrylic parts will be available separately also.

Not significantly as far as I know.

Re: Announcing Filastruder 2.1

I have a Tevo Tarantula 3d printer and comes with acrilic plates, I learned that the acrylic breaks if you apply so much pressure, may be the PVC washer will keep doing best work instead the acrylic washers, at least the PVC washer can be compressed

Re: Announcing Filastruder 2.1

Not sure what you're saying here, the PVC washer handles thrust load, the acrylic is not subjected to any thrust loading.
