Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap
The card is not physically damaged - I can read the first 8 pages with no issues.
I've actually got 2 card with this same issue now... from 2 different people!

cgrillo wrote:A good check would be to see if you can authenticate the tag with the password you know yourself, before sending it out.
I have a tag here that has been sent to me and I think it was run down to 0m and now won't even authenticate!
It's as though the password has changed!I've tested that before. My first TAG was emptied out by my ignorance, then i've found this forum and asked for it's password. After it was set to 0 m, i was able to authenticate to it, and make write read operations. I've sent that TAG to Bozot (was badly broken by my tests) a couple of weeks ago to allow him to test things on it. So once the TAG ends to 0 you should still be able to authenticate, read and write.
Best regards,
CoolArts.
I have not received this tag yet. So no testing has been done.
Don't worry, it was shipped to USA on January the third.

Any chance those two persons used the same software and managed to corrupt their cards or something like that?
I've only used this app to read the 9 tags that I've got passwords for: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … d.rfidtool
And one of the tags, the only one I've emptied so far I've written to A LOT and experimented and it never broke (well, at least not until I physically managed to remove the chip from the circuit board but I cannot blame the app for that, just my own stupidity).
Like Forrest Gump told... Shit Happens
Hola soy Gerardo vivo en españa y esta es mi tarjeta modificada para cambiar con otro usuario de Davinci Jr ya el Password de acceso se adjuntara en el envio....
Hi Gerardo, i've sent you a message to your gmail 2 days ago to perform a swap, but i didn't get any response back.
Hola Gerardo, te escribí un mail a tu gmail hace un par de días y estaba esperando tu contestación.
Regards,
Saludos!.
For anyone who has an EMUTAG and a Mini could you do me a favour?
Basically, I want you to allow the length remaining to run down to 0m.
If the printer then tries to lock the card somehow, we will be able to see what it does - by virtue that it can't screw up the emutag.
It may set some dynamiclock bytes (high pages) - or even screw around with the password and pack!
This will be shown by the fact that the emutag will then show up as not being recognised..
You can then dump the contents of the card and we can see what has been done to the it.
It may help us resurrect locked cards and enable them to be swapped...
It's not a 2 min job as you have to actually print to decrement the remaining length and also the batteries may not last that long .. as soon as you remove the batteries you re-set the emutag, so it will mean reading the values and re-writing them after.

Can anyone with a card with say 10m or less left dump out their card detaisl for us to be able to create an almost empty card
Rebusca las imagenes de mi tarjeta los datos eran con 0 Metros.
I searched the images of my card the data was 0 meters.
Can anyone with a card with say 10m or less left dump out their card detaisl for us to be able to create an almost empty card
I can post this data in a couple of hours, Current print will be ended at 18 m left. i will print a 10 meter model after and post the data at the end.
Regards!

0m is no use - sorry.
We need one to be able to be used for a short while and then the printer try and lock it..

I have the data now - thx.
I received a swap tag in the post and it has 5m left

As far as I was aware if it runs down to 0m it cannot be used again. Question - has anyone tried to reset at 0m chip and try it in a different printer and see if it works?
Just checked mine mate - 100m clear blue demo roll has definitely ran down to 0m:/ I can send it across and see if you get any joy with it your end?
Ok I will send you my address by PM and we can see if it works. if it does I will send you my tag in return
Received PM thanks, Ill get it posted out tomorrow.
Cheers

Getting some used tags tomorrow from a colleague in my office.
Has anyone actually managed to do a successful swap and test yet?

I believe you will find there have been quite a few successful tag swaps. I personally have had 2.
Make sure that you modify the tags prior to placing them in your printer.

Ok, I got his tag today. Man is it a real mess. I cannot even get it to display the UID which can be done without the password. So now I have two dead chips sitting here.
Thank you for the effort.

I've just gotten the tags and am waiting the passwords in the request forum (wish I could calc those! But I don't think I have the equipment required!)
Is there any data that would be useful for the cause I could capture? Or is this purely now a successful test workaround for those of us stuck on 2.2.7?

The logic sniffer costs about a tenner.
We don't calculate the passwords - we set up the EMUTAG with the card UID and show it to the printer - whilst using the logic analyser. This gives us the password that the printer thinks should be used for that card No.
We're always after UIDs, Passwords and PACK codes as it may make it easier to calc the algorithm used for these...

Wow - that actually doesn't sound terrifying, I've got some arduino experience so perhaps I'll look into this.
Is there a guide around for the setup? Or is the info somewhere in the monster post... haha!
Quick question regarding these tags and resetting - is it possible to use the 300m values on a tag that was originally 200m? Just to add a little (a lot) of longevity to it? I've a couple of 1Kg rolls of filament at home, and it'd be awesome to get as much life as possible out of these chips!
Thanks for the help guys. Really appreciate it.

I have this document for using the logic analyzer with a JR.

Asks for some sort of authentication?
also - before I attempt to update these chips - have we had a successful test of using the 300m codes on a chip that was 200m? Other threads seem to allude that it works - but nothing outrightly says you can do it.
afraid to brick these!

I have PM'd you the authentication data and I have been using 300m on all of my tags for some time now (months).

Yup is like i told you, the antenna is near to be fried. If you insist on read it, it will be readed ocasionally, and if after being recognized you don't move it, you will be able to perform read/write operations normally (expcept bits locked by my tests).
But know that if even you manage to rewrite it, the default TAG holder of the junior overpass current distance capacity of the brkn TAG antenna, the antenna must be literally touching the reader antenna. Also the antennas must be aligned the best you can.
Regards!,
CoolArts.
