Topic: Alternative software for Da Vinci Jr 1.0?
So I just got my first 3d printer for Christmas and it's the Da Vinci Jr 1.0. While I've had some nice success with some small prints and one large, I'm still trying to figure out and learn everything about printing. And I'm definitely quickly learning the limitations of this particular printer. Specifically when it comes to file types and slicers. Now the models I've printed up to now have been pretty basic. I just got an STL and sliced it/exported it to a 3w via XYZMaker and it printed just fine. However, now that I'm looking into new stuff to work on and test, I'm starting to run into barriers.
I'm mainly having issues with the file type limitations. The fact that the printer doesn't recognize g-code is causing some grief when messing with supports. I've done A LOT of reading and I've tried making my edits through Slic3r and that running the exported g-code through the XYZWare Mod, but the pretty doesn't recognize the 3w file. I used XYZMaker just fine at first but now that I'm reading about supports, infill % and pattern, etc., XYZMaker can't do any of that. It can't even rotate your model.
So my question is for more experienced user of this printer, what do you use to work with you prints?
