I would like to aim for change, I do not have a davinci, but my father-in-law is and I am the one who is trying to have his tags work, I live in Madrid someone wants to change their labels.

I would like to exchange with you, but i have one chip blocked (the one i was testing with), and the other one is currently on printing with about 180 m left, when it gets empty if you still have any chip to exchange i will be pleased.

Thank you, greetings!
¡Gracias, un saludo!

In what way did you modify the tag you received? Did you reset it to the known 200m values for a full new roll? Did you change the serialnumber or anything else except the remaining length (page 20 to 23)?

Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap

Great ! it works on both jr and mini ! Good job !!!!

Less stress while working on the PACK algo wink

Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap

Just got my second swapped tag today. Modified the length to 300M and it worked like a charm. So swapping appears to be working fine on the JR.

Could you please read page 20 to 23 after using the chip slightly. Also what initial values did you put in page 21 to 23 when you modified to 300m?

Maybe the printer ignores non-valid numbers on page 21 to 23 for the moment but it might not do that in the future, using just a little bit of a 300m roll should make it update page 20 and refill page 21 to 23 with correct values for the remaining length. We might need those values in the future so that at least we can refill to 299m or something like that.

Pages 21 - 23 are listed below

F4 2F 32 54
D4 41 E2 CE
CE B0 4A 76

I will keep an eye on these pages as I use it. It may only be an issue on the Mini.

Those values do not make sense. Did you put them in there or were they there to begin with?

The first value, reversed bytes are 0x54322FF4, to convert that to remaining length (page 20) we need to XOR it with 0x54321248 (this calculation has a 100% (7 out of 7) hitrate so far), that gives 0x3DBC which in decimal is 15804 = 15.804meters.

Make a small print and then read page 20 to 23 and let me know what you get. Sorry to stress this but I'd like a 100% foolproof setting for 300m so that I (and other users) can reset new 200m rolls to 300m before first use giving the chip 50% extra usefulness before needing to swap them.

Also, as long as you have not tried printing, you are not safe. My modified chip looks just fine until I try to print something.

Ok, here are the values from pages 20-23 after I printed 1M:

PAGE 20: CA 92 04 00
PAGE 21: 82 80 36 54
PAGE 22: DA 3E EE CE
PAGE 23: DC 6D 4D 76

Where is the second number of your Xor comparison come from?

Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap

Great, thanks.

With these latest values page 21 xor:ed with my "magic"-number is identical to page 20, and page 20 translates to 299.722 meters. This is very good. It's the valid numbers for an almost full 300m roll. While your experience show that at least the JR accept non valid values and simply overwrites them with valid ones this may not be the case for the mini or at least it may not be the case with future firmware versions.

The number I use to XOR with is actually the number page 21 ends up with on a completely empty tag where page 20 is all zeroes. I compared several readings from a full tag, empty tag and some in between and starting to compare the binary values and realized that page 21 is page 20 xor:ed with that value.

Sadly page 22 and 23 is not that easy to figure out.

Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap

That''s really nice. What kind of program have you written in order to do this?

45

Re: Davinci Jr and Mini Regional Tag Swap

No program, I noted the numbers down, compared them in hexadecimal, in decimal, in binary, tried to find patterns, stared at them (a lot) and finally figured out the pattern for how page 21 behaved compared with page 20.

Still staring a lot at the numbers for page 22 and 23 but still no go. sad

ok, I have written a little/simple program that will calculate the length. With that formula you should be able to get the 300M very easy.

Nice job!

One thin I can tell you, which you probably already know is. Pages 22 & 23 are the same on the two unused tags I have.

50 B1 E0 CE
52 E7 4F 76

The checksum for 300M in Page 21 is A8 81 36 54

Yes, that is values for 200m remaining length. All unused 200m rolls should have the same numbers in page 20 to 23.

The checksum for 300M in Page 21 is A8 81 36 54

Yes, that we can now calculate but we still do not know how to calculate page 22 and 23. Still the numbers for 299.722 is good enough. I guess we could even get closer to 300 than that with a few tries. I wonder what happens if you have a full 300m roll and start a print and then cancels the print while it is warming up the extruder? Or if that doesn't work you could cancel a print just as it starts and only have used less than a cm of filament.
