I started with DaVinci machines. They are... interesting. Within their limitations they do good work. Just don't expect much help or support from DaVinci.
One specific issue that killed it for me (literally) is DaVinci told me to clean my hot-end WHILE ENERGIZED with the provided brass brush. This killed the main board on my machine, and when I asked for a replacement they were all "nope send entire machine back to mainland china."
That kind of soured me, and I jumped into the RepRap community shortly after.
As far as starter machines go, they aren't bad. Take a look around at the resource here and welcome to the nightmar- HOBBY. I SAID HOBBY.
