Topic: Milwaukee MakerFaire 2016 recap

Instead of flooding the original thread, I figured to start anew with all the awesome stuff anyone that couldn't make it had missed. Plus, I may have an actual announcement big_smile

First off, myself and Heartless manned the Printit Industries booth and Kronikabuse whose table was just next to us. I am the one with the magnificent beard wink

Kronikabuse showing off his self-designed and built delta printer, Filastruder, and Filawinder with a massive collection of prints!

This is a 5 filament in delta behind us. Unfortunately, their unit broke during transport so we never saw it dance. They ditched the second day, so I feel bad for them and hope to see it in the future...pretty snazzy.

A one man Chicago outfit called Mostly Fantasy had a stellar display. I was in awe at his scaled Alien Queen head which was probably 4' in length, 3D printed in four sections, smoothed, then airbrushed with a high gloss to give that mucus look.

Another personal favorite was a Wisconsin-based filament company called The Virtual Foundry that makes "FilaMet" PLA which contains 88.5% copper, brass, stainless steel, and they told me they are also working on Tungsten which should be available soon. The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man below was with a Dremel polish wheel with the outer stitching torn off for a more pliable buff...nothing else. We all bought samples and I am hoping to start printing with it tonight! They were immediately behind us and were some awesome guys!

There was an army of Daleks roaming around. 4 contained an adult scooting around, and one was RC and had articulated arms. These were just as impressive as the RC R2D2s with a rotating dome with sounds.

As Kronikabuse, Heartless, and myself were finishing with loading in and setting up Friday, we scrambled to the other side of a wall behind us as a 12' Tesla Coil buzzed. No pics, since my outdated iPhone 5s couldn't take a decent pic or video in time. But a guy showed up with a self made suit of armor and they zapped him with the coil. Totally wish I could have seen that.

And then this happened.....

I'm afraid Heartless will drive the 5 hours to murder me if I post that wink

To let everyone in on the inside joke, Saturday blazed by and we ended up not eating breakfast or lunch. We were all starving and one pic of us standing together had her gazing into the distance from what I assume was a honey baked ham walking by.

Agreed! We certainly had a ton of traffic with almost no downtime, but I see Soliforum users as extended family. It was worth the weekend just to hang out and talk about something my wife is sick of hearing about smile

I can't say that we do or don't wink
We do not have such a unit available or displayed in our store, but what we can say is you will hear about more Printit Industries products in the near future...whatever they may or may not be.

How's that for vague? big_smile
