Topic: Warpage on print

I have modified the belt tensioners and tried all the adjustments I know on my 1.0A, but get this warping on a 25mm test cube as best seen in the middle picture. Not on all sides, only two. The rest actually looks pretty good. Its black abs, .2mm layer thickness, 30% infill, using xyzware. It is pretty square and the measurements are pretty close 24.96, 25.12 and 25.15. What causes the random warpage? It is close to the bed and towards the back where the warpage occured. Also, on those 2 sides, the corners pulled up ever so slightly. I only printed one cube in the middle of the bed.   Thanks.

Re: Warpage on print

Looks to me like it is too hot. Try printing two cubes at the same time and see if you still have that same issue. By printing two you will give each layer longer to cool before the next layer is laid. Also could be an uneven bed. Have you laid a straight edge across your hot bed to confirm it is flat? Many of the Da Vinci beds are bowed.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: Warpage on print

Thanks I'll try printing 2.   I can also draw up a long series of thin strips to test the bed, but I think it is pretty flat and is in calibration.  I've had lots of issues with this printer.  I just had to replace my x axis stepper motor cable for the second time due to error 0030, i made a custom x axis tensioner with a screw to adjust the tension, I've printed the little press in clips to try to hold the x axis bearings tight.  My control board overheats and flakes out unless I have the hatch open and a fan on it all the time.  I've tightened and checked and reprinted the bearing blocks as several cracked.   Its pretty disappointing.   Out of the box it printed really well, but over time its just becoming one issue after another.  Ive only got about 400 hours of printing on it.  That print was with xyzware.  I have s3d, but can't seem to get it to print any better.

Re: Warpage on print

To get the best out of a Davinci, you really need to move to Repetier firmware and change the hotend to something like an E3D.
If you do, you'll see a BIG improvement in print quality and S3D will come into it's own.
