I and others would highly recommend not getting another Printrboard as there are several boards far more dependable as outlined in your topic from last month http://www.soliforum.com/topic/15146/wh … rol-board/
and again, I say: ditch the Printrboard with it's non-replaceable stepper drivers and get something better, easier to setup and maintain.
My personal preference is Rumba, but Ramps 1.4 is pretty good too...
There are FAR better controller boards out there than the Printrboard that Solidoodle used.
Both of my SD4s are running on Rumba boards - MUCH better, and more capable than the Printrboard ever thought of being
Thanks guys!
Actually we want to build our own 3d printer, that has similar
function and features with Solidoodle 4, basically it has 8"x8"x8" printing volume,
ABS and PLA, etc., may add a touchscreen or LCD display, no 3D printed parts.
no auto leveling, but easily to level the bed.
So we are looking for the open source controller board and its firmware
first for our prototype.
Welcome any suggestions and comments for that how to improve Solidoodle 4?
Then you can accept, or say what you like to change from Solidoodle 4?
Of course you have to balance cost/price and features!!!!!
Even with it being a custom build. The before mentioned boards rumba, ramps, etc will work just fine.
Don't mess around and buy a genuine RRD Rumba. They are back up on their site... RepRapDiscount.com
without a doubt - Rumba! make sure you are getting the real deal, however - there a lot of clones out there.
It seems that the CURA is more simple than RH-Sli3r, if we try the CURA,
which controller board we should select, has somebody tried this??
What slicer you choose has nothing to the board you select.
What slicer you choose has nothing to the board you select.
^^ what he said.
you can use whichever slicing program you prefer.
The only ones that care about which program you use to slice with are the proprietary setups.
Open source does not care.
Thanks for your help and comments.
