Topic: Netfabb Basic

This is probably old hat to most of you out there, but as a newbie to this whole hobby I found it could be helpful.

I got a book from the library to get me started and in the book (3d Printers by Oliver Bothmann) he mentions and shows a bit about using Netfabb. It is reportedly a file checker ... when download or create a file for printing, you can run it through this program and will look for problems, errors etc., and then it can fix them for you so that your print will work.

I have downloaded it(free) and dabbled with it a bit and it seems to work as advertised.

I need many more hours with it to get it all straight in my head, but it seems to be another tool to help us newbies out.

Netfabb is great for checking problem models, if you have a msn or hotmail account, you can take advantage of their Online Model Repair Service here: https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/ which I believe is just them running it through the 'paid' version and lettings you download the 'fix.'

A friend of mine mentioned just yesterday that using the cloud service now just saves it as the Windows 10 3d printing format - which is useless to those of us running Win7 yet. roll

Personally, I don't use any of the cloud repair services. I downloaded Netfabb Basic a long time ago, and have no need of using the cloud services.

Re: Netfabb Basic

download 123D Design from Autodesk (also free) and you automatically get Meshmixer wink

123D Design is a great, fairly easy to use 3d modeling program.
