What a welcome!
Give it time, mornings can be a little quiet around here.
Welcome!
Do you own a printer yet? If so, which one?
welcome aboard
It is summer time sometimes take a while to get responses. people have jobs and lives. This is a helpful group.
Tin
All good, thanks guys.
Yes i do own one, Da Vinci Jr.
Was on a huge special so kind of an impulse buy, now im fidgeting with it to make it work properly. But so far im looking at buying a new controller and use that instead of messing around with XYZ's bs board with its chipped filament requirements and crappy slicer software.
And i need to learn gcode asap.
But other than that im quite looking forward to getting into 3D printing and actually prototyping some of my designs/ideas i have. So far its a lot of fun.
Looking forward to pick your brains in the near future.
Thee davinci can be a capable machine
lot of folks here have upgraded the board
There is a reprap g code cheat sheet on Thiniverse and a couple other places will give you most of what you need to know about g code . M codes are handy for troubleshooting and tweaking at times
An Welcome!!
Tin
Awesome, ill go look for that.
Thanks much Tin:-)
hello, Zillard
Here is a link to the RepRap Wiki page for G-code (also includes M-codes). I refer to it frequently to verify specific codes - great resource to have handy.
Good luck with your DaVinci upgrades.
Cool, thanks H.
that is quite a list of codes, but seems fairly straight forward.
So to lift the print head in the beginning of the print, should i look at anything that has to do with z offset? if you dont mind me asking? Although i only see codes involving a probe, not sure if that would be it.
Oh wait, G1 Znnn might be it?
or am i totally in the wrong parameter section???
sorry, I dont use Z lift, or any other "extra" codes, so I have no clue.
My start g-code is very simple.
Hopefully someone else can answer that question for you.
G 0 is a rapid move
G1 is a normal move so not Z offset.
Z offset can easily be set in slicer via the advanced setting menu but that may not help you.
Thanks Tin.
Thought the Znnn would indicate move the Z axis by whatever is specified. tested it, but it did not do what i was hoping.
Ill research some more, and maybe post a new topic should i still need to.
