Topic: Solidoodle 4 part fan

Hello everyone. I have a Solidoodle 4 that has the custom controller board. I am trying to figure out how I can wire a part cooling fan to the board so that I can control it from Repetier Host. Does this board have the built in ability to do that? Where on the board can I connect the fan?

You would need to supply us with detailed pics and information on this custom controller if it is not standard.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Thank you for your response. I believe that it is standard, but here are some pics. I just meant that according to other threads, the newer solidoodles come with a board that solidoodle made.

These are the best pictures that I could get without disconnecting all the wires and possibly messing something up. Thank you for helping me smile

Re: Solidoodle 4 part fan

If you look closely that board has unpopulated fan pins.  Just solder a couple pins on that spot or even a couple of wires.  Then you'll most likely need to flash firmware to activate that feature.  The version listed in the WIKI already has those pins enabled.  I have done this on several PrintrBoards and all have worked perfectly.

SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

I see it, thank you! The ones on the right side of the last picture right? Also, could you explain flash firmware? I have not heard that term before and am also not familiar with programming. I am always a fan of figuring something out though smile

Re: Solidoodle 4 part fan

I'd connect up a fan to those first and see if you can control it with the fan slider in RH first.  If it works than no need to flash the firmware.  If it doesn't work than the instructions in this link will get you started.  http://www.soliwiki.com/Updating_Solido … structions
They are out of date and some links will be broken.  Additional info on the PrintrBoard (that's what your board is) can be found here http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Printrboard# … Windows.29
I won't suggest flashing that particular board is fun or easy.  But it can be done if you take your time to research alternate methods following links from the sites I linked above.  Good luck.
