Can we get some more context with these links? "New stuff coming out" as a topic is not going to fly with me...

Sorry. I thought the info was self-explanatory and interesting. That's all.

Re: New stuff coming out

no, just posting a bunch of links is not "self explanatory".

a general idea/short description of what each link is about is useful in helping me decide if I want to click on the link or not. if there is no description, I just wont click on it. period. I do not blindly follow links... even in what I consider a generally "safe" place, such as this forum.

needless to say, I have not gone to any that you have posted because you don't give us an idea of what the link is about.

The links are self-explanatory. All you have to do is mouse over them to see the full link text which, in each case, is enough for me to figure out if I want to click them. Plus it's Heartlander.  That guy would never spam you.  LOL

that would depend on the browser you use - all I see is "opens in new window" - so no, they are not "self explanatory"

Re: New stuff coming out

So, if I out "Here's info about a new 3D printer" above each link you will feel happy clicking on it? If you fear evil links, and you should, then either don't ever click on anything or get some protection (I pay for a Norton subscription which warns me of malware and bad links before I click on them. Listening to someone's random intro to determine whether to click on a link is truly living dangerously, imo.

But I will try to contain my excitement from now on. And no, I won't tell yo what these links are to. You'll have to spend the rest of your life wondering what you missed.  wink

Re: New stuff coming out

I have antivirus/anti-malware protection. that isnt the issue at all
and yes, accounts DO get hacked on a regular basis.
In fact, I just yesterday had a warning from G-mail that someone was trying to log into my account - from the Ukraine! Thankfully, it was stopped, but the point is, it can happen to ANYONE!

If you dont want to take the time to say what the link is about, that is your choice, Heartlander, but I wont be checking it out - and no, I wont sit & wonder what I missed, either. I know how to find relevant articles all by myself, thanks. wink
but seriously - how hard is it to toss out something like: "this looks like an interesting printer/laser cutter/milling machine/what have you". or "interesting article on where 3d printing is headed"

Re: New stuff coming out

I use Comodo which is currently ranked in the top 3-4 while Norton is not in the top 15 anymore like many others. I am getting ready to install the 1st rank security software and still wont take chances with my PC that could ruin everything including my ID. once it happens to you then youll understand.

need to Google the top 10 anti virus software's with reviews more frequently as they change lots. my new one is the top 2 from 3 months ago that merged into 1 company since. AVG dropped lots too due to them ignoring warnings from Google/Cromodo (yes part of Comodo and still has free full versions) about flaws it had. Mcafee and Norton both lost a few spots in rank the last year. lots of new hackers creating types of malware never seen b4 for use by foreign country's even. also need apps listed by Heartless and more. one web site helper is "WOT" for reported safe sites most are free too.

Re: New stuff coming out

used to have Zone Alarm b4 AVG it was in top 3 now its way down the list. plus many started turnning freeware into pay ware when updated and lost most users (kinda like MS is doing) also need a good firewall with AV. and Email protection

Re: New stuff coming out

Okay, guys. From now on I will post an intro. Hopefully that will keep us all safe, regardless of our preference in malware protection. Sorry for the big ole brouha.

Re: New stuff coming out

Wow, way to shut down someone posting interesting links.  When I hover over the link the bottom of my browser window shows the expanded link and describes the article pretty well.  "New stuff coming out" in a subforum called "The Latest in 3D Printing" should be enough to know that they are new items related to the latest in 3d printing.  Hell the link text says 3dprintingindustry.com in it already, and it's from a regular member with no history of spamming and has been around for nearly 3 years.

I could see if it was someone's first post, but I think this was an overreaction.

That being said, I clicked on the links and now my computer is running really slow and I keep getting offers for discounted v1agra. smile
