Topic: New Raspberry Pi Camera

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has just announced a new version of the official Pi camera.  It is 8 megapixels, uses a SONY IMX219 sensor, and is priced the same as the earlier version.

Re: New Raspberry Pi Camera

The new v2 camera arrived yesterday but it looks like there are a few kinks in the firmware still.  Most noticeably, everything is flipped from the previous camera and the video modes are center cropped.  Surprisingly, it's focused at a distance just right for ATLAS 3D (~12") but gets out of focus at distances greater than about 18 inches.  It's hard to believe that was an intentional decision.  I guess we'll see.

Re: New Raspberry Pi Camera

Was this ever sorted? I can't find anything in any config files to flip the camera. I've found how to do it using raspistill and raspivid but I don't know how freelss accesses the camera since you can't modify the registered version.. Or is there some global config file on the pi that does it system wide? This is the only post I have found about it, so I'm assuming others have fixed it on theirs..
