Have anyone tested if this works on the newest 2.2.6 Firmware? Would like to know before risking updating it and not being able to use reset cards.

I would think, and I may have got this wrong, that the firmware has to be able to communicate with the NFC tag in your filament and that requires a password specific to the card, the firmware uses an algorithm to calculate the card's password based on other data read from the card (that's why someone can sell you your password on ebay, they have worked out the algorithm) so unless they want to lock out already purchased filament reels they wouldn't change the firmware ..... unless of course there are more than one possible passwords that could be used.

I don't know enough about NFC to say for certain but I'd think it unlikely.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

I've got one person on eBay that has reset the tag once and now is not getting the tag to work with our usual reset information, color changes on Page 8 or Page 9 adding one byte to the end work arounds.  They are saying they have 2.2.6 firmware.  I'll keep you updated about what happens, but for now if you have the option you might want to consider not upgrading to the 2.2.6 firmware.

Is anyone else having any issues with the 2.2.6 firmware?

I'm still getting information and will continue to ask questions and see if we can figure something out about what has happened and how we can reset it. Don't go overboard, because we are still early on this potential issue, but just wanted to see if anyone else was having issues.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

The tag that is having issues with the 2.2.6 firmware was allowed to completely go to zero.  I would highly recommend no matter what firmware you are using that you do not let the tag go to zero.  It appears that something special in the memory marks when a tag goes to zero and we have to do addition reset information in the way of changing the color code in Page 8 or (what I assume is a lot number) in Page 9.  It may be that firmware 2.2.6 records even more the tag when a tag goes to zero that the last version and it may be more difficult or even impossible to reset a tag that has gone to zero.  Again it is my recommendation that you not let any tag go all the way to zero.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Hi, I firstly want to say a massive thank you to you guys, I think what you are doing is brilliant. I have almost zero coding skills but I have got about 6 tags that I can send the data from to add to your database. I have purchased the password for 1 tag from greatone76, just waiting for it come.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

As a complete newbie to 3D printing I have been reading all the discussions about hacking the filament card.
Some one will probably shoot me down, but it occurred to me that inside the filament drive there is a hall-effect disk and pickup. I assume that the only reason it is there is to record the number of revolutions, calculate material used and write the result back to the card.
Why not either remove half of the blades from the disc so that it only records half usage or maybe remove the disk altogether so that the usage would not record at all with the result that a new card would always read as full. I admit that I have not had the courage to try this, but maybe when my printer comes out of warranty...............http://soliforum.com/i/?ieuqdbK.jpg

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

That does show some promise and looks like something to check out. I would also like to caution you, as this may make the printer think it is out of filament.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

If anyone with a Arduino and a NFC shield is interested in a free windows program that will allow you to read a tag, update a tag and store information about multiple tags in an access database, let me know. I just completed a program I will give anyone for the asking. The only thing I am asking in return is you provide the requested information from the program so I can create a license file to keep people from exploiting others for money. THIS DOES NOT PROVIDE PASSWORDS!

That is used to detect extruder motor failure. If it does not spin when it is supposed to after a certain period of time you will get an error. It does not count anything. The count is based on fuzzy logic and the print time. It knows how many meters of filament is used to make the model based on time and the speed setting to print at. Thats why you find many times on the other XYZ printers there is still plenty of filament left for a certain job but the printer insist there is not as the math is not that accurate.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

2.2.6 seems to be is evil!

Upgraded this morning, printed couple of items - all good.
Then reset colour code to use 190 degree and "nope", un identified spool.
Tried to change it back to 210 degree colour code, "nope".

Had 100+ meters left though.
(it went down to zero once, so could be the case)

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Did you try to add 1 to the last byte in page 9?

836

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Yep, but unfortunately with no success...

If I get that right all that 1 to last byte thing....
I had 00354145 and I bumped it up to 00354146

Thanks for the reply though...

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Post your tag data. I will compare it to some I have.

838

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Btw, is there a way to roll back firmware?

839

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

No one has posted that they have had any success rolling back.

I'm not sure if they make a difference, but I did see a few differences.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Are you on 2.2.6?!

Does anyone have 2.2.4 bin file or older?!
Thanks.

845

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

No I am not. I have not done any updates since 2.2.0.

846

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

kr15_uk - have you tried to reset with a color you have never set the tag to?

Yep, every single one from the instructable.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Can anyone remind me (pre 2.2.6 FW) what's been read in stats on the printer when spool goes to zero?!
Unidentified or full details with 0m out of 200m remaining?!
Thanks.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

My tag just got empty today and told me "Filament empty".

By the way, i have no problem resetting the tag, even it is goes to zero.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

kr15_uk - Try the below data exactly:

PAGE 08:    5A 50 5A 00
PAGE 09:    00 35 33 54
PAGE 10 (0A):    40 0D 03 00
PAGE 11 (0B):    40 0D 03 00
PAGE 12 (0C):    D2 00 2D 00
PAGE 13 (0D):    54 48 47 42
PAGE 14 (0E):    30 30 31 39
PAGE 15 (0F):    00 00 00 00
PAGE 16 (10):    00 00 00 00
PAGE 17 (11):    34 00 00 00
PAGE 18 (12):    00 00 00 00
PAGE 19 (13):    00 00 00 00
PAGE 20 (14):    40 0D 03 00

PAGE 22 (16):    50 B1 E0 CE
PAGE 23 (17):    52 E7 4F 76

I"m wondering if 2.2.6 is checking more things try this completely new data set as a base point.
