Topic: issues accessing the site

I've been getting this for a very long time. I don't know if the issue is my country, ISP, email provider, or something else, but often when I try to access soliforum.com, I get a blank page with the text "This request has been denied for security reasons. If you believe this was in error, please contact support.". BTW there is no link to support to be able to contact anyone about this...

Re: issues accessing the site

That's a problem on your end.
What browser do you use? Try another...I personally use Opera with no problems.
What antivirus prog do you use? Maybe network security is too stiff.
What country are you in? No, I don't expect you move big_smile But maybe another user from there had this issue and fixed it.

This really wouldn't qualify as a site suggestion in my book, but good to know there may be a problem.

Re: issues accessing the site

This is really getting out of hand, I have been unable to access the site since. I have been an admin myself before and I can say with complete certainty that this kind of issue is not a problem on the user's side. This usually happens when a whole ISP is blocked or blacklisted, manually or by some automatic system.
I did try a different OS, device and all the common browsers, just fyi.

Is there any way I can contact the admin about my issue? There is no contact information on this website as far as I know. "Please contact support" is not possible as the message suggests.

I was able to write this message only because I accessed this website through a web proxy.

Re: issues accessing the site

Just a thought.  I had a problem browsing the forum as well, but in my case, it would come up as a error saying that the forum is off line, and that I was browsing a cached version, but the page I requested was not available because it wasn't cached.

It turned out that my problem had something to do with me being constantly logged in.  Once I logged out, then logged back in, the problem went away.

I don't know if vivi's problem can be solved n the same manner, but it's simple enough to try.

Re: issues accessing the site

I'm certainly no expert but can't see any problems on our end.
I'll get a message out to Brad and see if we can help figure this out.

Re: issues accessing the site

Everything looks good from my end here.

Occasionally cloudflare has issues which may result in the "offline mode", but its rare.

Re: issues accessing the site

Issue is not browser specific.

all latest

Chrome:

Opera:

If it was a firewall issue, I don't think using a different ISP (not my home one) would work fine:

No antivirus active as well.

When the IP is suspicious to Cloudflare, I think it always asks for text verification before you can enter the site. But I've never encountered this message.

And yes, I've tried deleting my cookies, it doesn't change anything.

Its possible your DNS tables could be messed up. Have you tried flushing your DNS cache.

So this is only occuring from a certain connection? Like your work or your home connection?

Yes, by doing

ipconfig /flushdns

Yes. Well, the issue is not only with one connection, but my home connection is from where I've been completely unable to access the site for about a month.

Re: issues accessing the site

I'm wondering this has anything to do with the adds that are on every page except the main page.

The other day, I got an error telling me I had to update to the latest Flash before I could continue.

The problem for me was that I had installed a piece of software that installed an older version of Flash (11.xxx), and even though I already had the latest version (v19.xx), the mere presence of that installation was giving the web browser fits.  Not only with SoliForum, but just about any site that required Flash.

Some errors were not even plain in their explanation, they would just error out.

It would pay to check if there are any browser add-ons that are out of date or incompatible.

Re: issues accessing the site

Interesting, I can't seem to track down any single source of the issue from my end here. If you PM me the IP address your trying to connect from thats having issues I may be able to do more of an investigation.

Re: issues accessing the site

I have seen those errors when browsing via an OpenVPN proxy, I just put it down to malicious other users on the same service angering Cloudflare. When I changed my exit point, it would work again.

Re: issues accessing the site

It's the opposite for me, I can only access via a proxy. However, I first tried accessing with Tor proxy servers to post about my issue and got the same message. I'd understand why Cloudflare would block Tor, but I don't recall being a Tor proxy exit node myself, ever.

Brad, check the IP of the first post. I'll also pm you.

Google HTTP 406 error. It will give you some insight on what is going on. That is the error that IE is kicking back if you look at the tab title..

Re: issues accessing the site

I know. Never encountered that error and from what I read it means something is not right on the server side, even though it's an 4xx error.

17

Re: issues accessing the site

The IP you sent me seems to be listed in a lot of blacklists but it is also the IP you have posted from before, I have a feeling its being rejected at some point because of this. I whitelisted the IP in cloudflare, if its still causing you issues unfortuntely I dont know where to go from here.

You seem to be viewing and posting from that IP right now so it may not be the problematic one?

18

Re: issues accessing the site

I seem to be able to access the site now. Don't know why it's blacklisted, have been using this connection for only two months, didn't share with anyone.

19

Re: issues accessing the site

I'm seeing your IP address listed in blacklists for DDoS and password cracking attempts as recently as 4 days ago.

Are you the only user of that computer and connection or is it shared? Sounds like somebody is using your connection for bad things. Is it possible a wireless user like a laptop or phone is using your wireless connection?

Well it's password protected. I don't know how someone could use it.

Passwords can be cracked. I would get a list of all the MAC addresses you allow to connect then look at the routers connection list and see if there are any other MAC addresses you don't recognize and block those in the router. Since each router is different I am going to leave the finding and blocking to you. But it would be worth a check to see why your IP is landing on blacklist for dubious reasons if you are not doing it. I

t is also possible if your ISP renews IP addresses often that you may have gotten one that was misused by another customer of theirs. Most of the time now with broadband ISP's though you get the same IP you had even if they renew the pool. I have FioS and have had the same IP since I got the service and they are supposed to renew every 3 days.

Re: issues accessing the site

I'll do that.

Brad, is there any way for you to check if the whole ISP is blocked? I could maybe turn off the modem in the night, the IP might change then.

BTW the problem is back, don't know why since you manually removed this IP from the list.
