Topic: 3D Printing with High Temp Materials (i.e. Ultem, PEEK, PC)

3D Printing Community,

I was just testing the water to see what others have done out there as far as printing these materials and others that require high temp. If you could reply with the following i'm sure it would help my self and many others who are looking into these areas.

3D Printer Used:

Print Temperature:

I use PC more than any other material.

@josh.aeauto, I'm thinking about buying the Airwolf HD2X, I just have a few questions for you about it. how do you like it so far? What software are you using, does the dual extruders work well? Would you recommend it buying it or something else?

It is a great printer, it has a large print area and it prints fast. Airwolf has great customer support. But honestly I think you're spending a little too much for what you're getting. When I bought it, I was (and still am) new to 3D printing, and as I learn more, I am finding things I don't really care for. For example, the dual extruder hotend runs the same temperature on both sides, and it's operated by low-powered heater. Also it uses 3mm filament, and I found that to be a nuisance since most other printers use 1.75mm.

Take a look at Fusion3 as well. I have heard some good things about them. If I buy another printer, this is probably what I'd get.

If you're really interested in dual+ extrusion, check out Rova3D - it can print 5 materials/colors at once. You might spend a little more time calibrating it though.

Re: 3D Printing with High Temp Materials (i.e. Ultem, PEEK, PC)

@josh.aeauto, I am actually in the process of getting a benchmark sample from Rova 3D, currently my #1 choice since it can reach temps of 450C and the bed can go to 140C i think. Will see how the samples come back and I'll let you know how it goes. I think were going to end up purchasing that machine though. Thanks for the advice it will definitely aid my decision.

My bad, I don't thick I reported anyone, so I'm confused on how that's happening.

Been printing with straight up Nylon 12 Filament... [edited]
Parts are coming out great... 235-260c depending on how fast you want to print. Have 50ft samples and full rolls...
