Topic: Stock bed temperatures

What should the stock bed temperature be for a davinci 2.0 all stock using XYZ ABS filament?
Mine runs at 70C which seems a bit low.

Firmware is 1.0.B

XYZWare Version 1.1.32.12

Also, my plan is to keep it stock until the warranty expires, then get a resetter to use other filament brands.
Should I upgrade XYZware and firmware for the first year or just leave it as is?

Re: Stock bed temperatures

Hey mate,
I have a 1.0A on 1.0.3 and the stock bed temp is 90C for ABS.

Cheers

Re: Stock bed temperatures

I know you said that you wanted to keep it stock but I would HIGHLY recommend that you switch over to repetier.  I switched a few days ago and I couldn't be happier with it.  It even fixed a problem I had where my printer would randomly reboot mid print.

Re: Stock bed temperatures

Those beds have hot and cold spots. if you measure temps with a contact thermometer in various areas you will see as much as a 50 degree variation.

Re: Stock bed temperatures

Nice pictures. I try and not print in the middle of the bed unless I have too. I've had some scorched parts when printing at about 5 hours there.

Great Info !
I'm curious if that bed has Glass on it ?
It seemed that adding Glass Evened out the temp differences on our printer.
(Also Lowered temp greatly, but much more constant over area)

Yes the bed is glass. It is a 2mm glass plate with a paper thin heater actually glued to it. However it still heats unevenly and can vary as much as 50 degrees from edge to center. In most cases your middle is usually too hot and will scorch your build if you try to get the edges hot enough.

I had one of these before I got the CTC.

Re: Stock bed temperatures

Customer service told me to upgrade to the latest firmware and XYZware. So  I updated to Firmware 1.0.F and XYZware 2.1.1.2. The bed will still only heat to 70C.

XYZ then told me "Please be informed that it is normal for the print bed to heat up for only 70C."

Is 70C actually enough to print ABS?

Re: Stock bed temperatures

My 1.0 was heating the bed to 90. 90 is really the lowest I would go for ABS on a bed.

I am having mixed opinions right now. I think all those high reviews are company seeded. Mine has several issues such as not being able to keep both extruders and bed at temp. My guess is the power supply is border line and Chinese. The right extruder also will stop extruding and start clicking. Yes the click of doom we have all heard. Still may be a temperature issue.

I am also not happy with the current firmware, may give sailfish a try here very soon. The customer support also sucks.
